RE:perch schools
Another place to look is in coves. Perch always seem to hang around in coves.

RE:Panfish Lakes in Spokane Vicinity
I like Silver Lake. The average sized sunfish in their are pretty big, and I've caught a sunfish around 8" weighing 1/2 lb. out there. Someone said that there were crappie in there, but I don't know if there really are or not. Eloika is supposed to have really good crappie; when I was there, someone...

RE:Update: WDFW Clarification, fish "caught" with bait
Isn't using barbless hooks and exception to the bait rule? Also, I went to a hatchery yesterday and they said the same thing about the high mortality rate with barbed hooks with bait. However, with most trout and other fish and that I catch, only about 5% or so swallow the hook (except for at Reflec...

RE:Get in touch with someone regarding the planting of Rainbow trout?
I haven't caught that many big fish, so it's usually hard for me to let go of any bigger ones. #-o However, when I went up to Reflection Lake (unfortunately private) we were throwing back most of the fish even though they were 14-15 inches (which my friend considered "small" for some reason). It wou...

RE:Water Temperatures for Bluegill
Thank you. I think that the book was more geared toward Southern anglers, because it also said that they would stop feeding around 59 degrees.

Water Temperatures for Bluegill
I have a book that says that bluegill prefer a water temperature from 75-80 degrees. However, I think that most lakes around here don't even get to be 70 degrees (Horseshoe) and some of them still hold sunfish. Does anybody know the water temperatures that they prefer here, or if any lakes around he...

RE:Hellgrammites and Scuds
Thank you all for the information. Yellow Bear, this year I tried to go to Bailey Lake, but it turned out that the lake was private now. Somebody told me that it has been for about 10 years. :( I haven't been up to Horseshoe Lake for about 5 years, but I used to go to it all the time and plan to go ...

Hellgrammites and Scuds
I've only been able to search a couple creeks and lakes for them, but I have never found any hellgrammites or scuds. I have heard that both make fine fishing bait and am thinking about trying them out. If anybody knows anything about where to find these, how to catch them, and/or how to fish them, p...

How do you tell between male and female sunfish?
This is kind of a strange question, but I am curious as to how to tell the difference between male and female sunfish. I'm thinking that the ones with a more brilliant coloration may be spawning males, namely the pumkinseed. The only current way I know how to tell if a fish is male or female is afte...
