Re: Outboard mounting bracket - advice?
Thanks for the advice/input. I was thinking about the kicker type mounting brackets above. The motor is only 105lbs dry weight, so figured it shouldn't be to big of an issue. Didn't think about motor swamp, and was curious about weight shift. Sounds like if I try anything, should be the jack plate. ...

Outboard mounting bracket - advice?
Question: Recently acquired a 16' flat bottom. Great little boat, but problem is, it's a 20" transom and I only have a short shaft (25hp 2 stroke). Figured I'd be looking at getting a new motor, but thought about a mounting bracket. Anybody tried putting an outboard bracket on a small boat for the m...

was there one week ago. Straight west of the dock at James is a 30-35ft shelf....right off shore of Decatur. Saw pinks jumping and even got two casting. Also, SW corner of James can produce some bottom fish...not lights out but it's close to the dock.

Re: Castable crab traps/snares - is it considered fishing?
Great question. I never really thought about it, but sometimes I have 4 people in the boat and not enough room for 8 pots, usually 6 max. Could possibly bring a pole or two to get the 8 units allowed...

was a fun derby.....only 100 fish weighed for approx. 1300 anglers....tough odds. I wasn't one of the 1 outta 13-14 anglers (or 7%) who weighed fish. great time and fun though...

RE:take a look at my sonar image...
don't have the 595c, but interpretation in general; You know quad that the fish imaging setting is not the most ideal. It's best to go to "raw imaging" or flasher and interpret yourself. Like the pros have already responded, SO many factors. could be big fish, could be small fish, could be air bubbl...

I've heard decent reports from A7. Haven't been out myself yet this winter. You stickin' to A8 & A9 Matt?? You still up in Whatcom? Just wondering, like I said, (I'm sure everyone has heard, since being on outdoor line [a7]) a buddy from anacortes has been having pretty good luck in the Juans, weath...

RE:Snohomish river and the tides?
Maybe if a guy timed it right, he could put in and drift down stream and then ride the tide back to the lauch. Someone w/o a motor of course. You can indeed "ride the tide" both ways. I have never gone downstream then up, but up then down. Take a 30lb minnkota, a jon boat, a buddy, and a lunch. Lau...

Skagit coho
Just wanted to see tips/tactics/updates on the skagit coho run. Already posted a report, but went last thurs. (9/16) with no luck and little activity. Haven't ever got a coho on the Skagit, but plan to this year. I fished the lower river just above the forks. I did great there last year for the pink...

Sounds fun. Think I will take a break from the salt and get the boat in some fresh water for a change. I've been to baker two times this year, had OK luck, couple rainbows couple dollies, up to 17". (all released) Sounds like the sockeye are biting OK. I'll be there tuesday more than likley. Good in...

RE:Salmon Fishing Advice around the NW section of the San Juan Islands
Should be some great crabbing Adam B. I do fish that area quite a bit, but that is mainly for bottomfish. I have never actually fished up there for salmon, and still consider myself a greenhorn when it comes to salmon fishing. I do know this: the area7 salmon season is off to a slow start (skunked o...
