Re: New website in pending battle against voracious pike
I've fished the po for over forty years and think the smallmouth and pike boom are just what we needed. I don't agree with illegal species introduction, although history has proved legal introduction doesn't always turn out so good either. For years the river provided stunted panfish, a few trout an...

RE:Kicker steering link systems. Opinions?
I've made linkage units with 3/8's all-thread and coupler nuts. The all-thread can be carefully bent into almost any shape and the coupler nuts make for semi quick connections. My main Johnson motor already had a 3/8's threaded hole on the steering arm to insert a stud, and a clamp on my kicker's fr...

Solved problem for cold weather starts
I don't know if this will help any boaters out there, but wanted to pass on this info in case it does. I've had trouble starting my older 85 Johnson in cold weather for the last couple of seasons thinking it was probably ready for a carb rebuild. I went on iboats forum and read about similar problem...

RE:Columbia River & Snake River Sections
Good job, Aaron. I always wondered why there wasn't much on the Snake and Columbia rivers since they offer great inland big fish opportunities. I fish for steelhead, bass, and catfish on the snake and salmon at hanford reach, as do many washington fishermen. Current postings will help all of us on p...

RE:Camping near Pend Orielle
Pioneer Park has camping and boat launch but isn't open until the end of May. It's about 3 miles north of Newport on the east side of the river. A private campground or motel might be your only option that early in the season. Bruce is dead on about the boating hazards on the river. Because of sever...

Usually the gate is locked during winter hours, although I haven't been out that way this winter. The Lake Roosevelt Nat. Rec. Area headquarters, in Grand Coulee, number is 509-633-9441, weekdays, 8:00 to 4:00. Good luck.

RE:Visiting Newport area 4th of July
Go a couple of miles past Pioneer Park to a rock cut where road is right by the river. The water is deep and a good smallmouth bass and trout hang-out. About three more miles the road returns close to the water in an area called Char Springs where there are a few undeveloped lots you can access the ...

RE:Visiting Newport area 4th of July
Your tackle sounds a little light for pike that can easily reach 20 lbs. +, especially trying to land from the shore thru weeds. I use a seven foot rod with a reel that can handle 12 to 15 lb. test and possible steel leader if you break off a lot. I would try Ashenfelter Bay, which is about a mile n...
