RE:Tiger Muskies at night??
Don I am going to disagree on your boat traffic theroy. This may be true for a lake like Minnetonka (plenty of fish caught during the day on that lake though) however it does not fit for the lakes up north with strong night bites and minnimal boat traffic/fishing pressure. Also lots of lakes in the ...

RE:Tiger Muskies at night??
My advice would be to focus on the different events that take place during a 24 hours period... Sun rise, Sun set - Moon Rise, Moon set. Muskies tend to be most active at these times. Also changes in the weather or barometric pressure will trigger activity as well. The vast majority of the lures use...

T-dot If you are looking at the St. Croix I would suggest taking a peek at http://www.proedgefishing.com/. This guy makes a top notch rod!!! Lots of 50's have been landed with them. I like a longer rod (76" to 8'6") unless I am working jerkbaits. Have fun.

Mr. swedefish4life1, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I awa...

I have several abu C4 6600 Series (the blue one) and a couple of Penn international 975. The abu is about $100 bucks a pop. These have been excellent reels and have taken quite a bit of abuse right in stride. The one draw back is you can get arm pump pretty quick when you are burn big baits. This is...

RE:Undersize Muskies
This will continue to happen until there are consequences for those indivduals taking fish. Some people need to get busted so it can make the papers, internet, or news. I know this is a more "focus on the negative" approach however really... what is the incentive for non-muskie guys or indivduals wh...

There was an article a few months back in "In-Fisherman" mag talking about prey size for Pike and Muskies. The jist of it was Muskies will hit prey as big as 40-45% their size on a regular basis and pike will hit prey as big as 50-55% their size... the begining parts of this video show that first ha...

Guys pretty much what I have gathered here is... finding the fish/structure is the most important thing, then any color will pretty much work, there has been success on many different sizes, bucktails seem like the hot ticket... Sounds like every muskie fishery I have even been on :)! The only stead...

SKI, I have seen the ducktail stuff and I currently have a couple of lures. I know burning BIG tails during the summer months can leave you in one of two ways... serious fatigue or pop-eye forearms! Check out the Penn international 975 series reels. You can get them on eBay pretty cheap and you can ...

Looks like bright colors for Tapps is the hot ticket, thanks! How about the other tiger lakes? Kev, thanks for the website... what is the magic range for Lake Tapps? I read the site as it is within normal range right now but that can't be right. Rosann, I caught that hog jaws on a northern MN lake ;...

Ok gang! I am beefing up the tackle box for the '09 season and being a MN guy I just can't bring myself to avoid the pounders and double cowgirls!!! Go big or go HOME! I've fished Lake Merwin for Kokanee & I am wondering is there any info on how much the Muskies affect the Kokanee population? WDFW's diet studies at Merwin Lake found only 2% of the tiger muskies' diet consists of kokanee. Other factors also point to a conclusion that tiger muskies have minimal imp...

RE:Stocking Records & Lake Maps
[quote="Don Wittenberger"]A handful of our larger lakes (e.g., Banks Lake and Lake Washington) are mapped, but you generally won't find lake maps like those available for many midwestern lakes. The reason is the market here is much smaller. This web site has crude topo maps for many of Washington's ...
