Re: Make your self heard

Does anyone know the actual outcome from the meeting?
I haven't been around for a while so I've been out of the loop
I just heard rumor that they were projecting real low returns and there would be "Limited fishing opportunities" ...Whatever that means?

Re: River opener!!

Yes Thanks Gman I am aware of that, (not being snarky) but the dates can change from year to year on different rivers and no one mentioned what river opened...I was just asking because I didn't want to spend half an hour searching by date to figure out what opened. I live on the Puy which opens som...

Re: River opener!!

What river(s) opened? I can't find a reg book anywhere and I checked WDFW website and they only list 2016-17.

How many of you fish the Puyallup/Carbon

I checked the regs online last week and it basically said.... Puy will be open for Chum only Oct 1st Carbon will open Sept 10th for 15 days Hatchery Chinook only. Now I tried to check WFDW again and got the "404 NOT Found Error" Either way it's messed up, there are kings in there in June July and Au...

Re: Getting nervous!

You guys realize what is probably coming next year..( or whenever they reopen for salmon)?....I am guessing there will be a major price hike on the fishing licence if you want to fish for salmon and you probably wont be able to buy a second catch card, along with new gear restrictions....just for st...

Re: Getting nervous!

Wow, Ok....that's a bummer!

From the WDFW page, it lists the Puyallup and below it it reads Clover creek..If I read that right... it's only open from Steilicom lake and upstream.
Is that what it's saying?

Getting nervous!

So the latest scuttlebutt that I heard is that they will potentially close Puget sound "and all tributaries for Coho fishing. I really haven't had time to follow this except for what they say on the news... Do we know if they will close PS and the rivers and how will that affect fishing for kings? I...

Catch-and-release except up to 3 hatchery STEELHEAD may be
retained.

You can still keep steelhead, and three is the limit even after March 31st. Straight from the WDFW page 57.
Awesome - thanks!

Re: Tribes and State look at Coho closure.

Whelp...can't say i didn't see this coming... I can't possibly justify buying a saltwater licence if they close it now! I barely fish the salt as it is but I have always bought a licence just in case one of my friends invites me out...now there will be no point ... I do go squidding and clamming a f...

Re: Landlubber asking a Squid question!

Thanks Mike and Baywolf, good points, especially about cleaning the boat in the cold and dark, I hadn't considered that.. this is why I posed the question.... I am not sure if it is worth putting the boat in but I think we are gonna try it anyway. I will let you guys know how it goes after we go out...

Chirp ......

Chirp......

I'm guessing that, after 35 views, that either not many of us have been squidding in a boat in the Sound or no one wants to give up their secrets.... LOL

Landlubber asking a Squid question!

I have been pier squidding up and down the south sound and that is all fun and good fighting the crowd but my landlord wants to go squidding and he has this really nice 24' Lund always ready to go out to the coast fishing but he has never taken it out in the sound... I have never been squidding in a...

Re: Steelhead Pics & Reports 2015/2016

was that fish a hatchery or native? I got a hatchery 8-10lb summer run out of skok this year, definitely once in a lifetime thing if that. It was a Native.... I think it was after the 06-07 fllood on the Puyallup that Voights creek hatchery stopped reproducing Steelhead, Haven't seen a clipped one ...

Re: Steelhead Pics & Reports 2015/2016

I was plunking eggs on the Puy just below the mouth of the carbon 3 days ago in perfectly clear water...still searching for the missing "B" run Cohos and I kept getting hits...thought it might be a dolly or something thieving my eggs..every time my gear drifted down and stopped I would get hit.....s...

Blatant snagging and poaching on the PUY

It has become just stupid! People are walking out with purposely snagged fish right in front of me, doesn't matter if I say anything or not anymore, people take fish and leave and then come back with different clothes or hats or they just come back or they become aggressive and threatening! Where th...

if you want nice bright fish in a river, expect to see people. Good point maybe that is what I will do take him further up river. Further up river means darker fish if you are going for pinks.... the zombies are already headed down stream... the good news is some bright silvers are mixed in with th...
