Too much oil injection

The oil set up on the pump shows the line to line up with the forging post but that is way too much oil going into the carbs. Looks like st paddy's day again. I have a 1996 60 hp 3 cylinder 2 stroke merc ELPTO. Anyone have the correct view of the setup for this pump? If it's set right I was told I m...

Re: Two battery boat question

Yes that is exactly what happened. What is interesting is the times before when I ran the boat I only had one ground cable connected. So now I wonder what wasn't working without the other grd cable hooked up? Guess I will find out and will put both batteries in this time. Thanks

Two battery boat question

This may seem like a dumb question but something I was not aware of. When I went to hook eveything up this year I was getting power from the battery for the console lights but the engine was not turning. I went through many things to figure it out and found when hooking up both ground cables to the ...

Re: Mercury 2 stoke timing

Ok thanks for the heads up on the Rev rpm while in neutral and ear muffs. As far as the service manuel I sent an email to mercury and they responded back that they have one the I can buy online from them. All they need is the serial number and I'd details. The Seloc is way too generic. I did have tr...

Re: Mercury 2 stoke timing

Fire the motor up after resetting the timing and the link and sink steps. Motor runs great, pees and brought the rpm up but not over what it states in the instructions. Next step is to get it out on the water to see how she runs under load. https://youtu.be/Ws8EcmVJExE" onclick="window.open(this.hre...

Re: Mercury 2 stoke timing

Thanks for your responses. Yes I agree if not broke don't fix it but this motor was given to me and running horrible. I checked everything and all good except the timing was way off. Not bad enough to backfire which is good. Going to reset it today, shoot some 2 stroke spray in the cylinders and car...

Re: Mercury 2 stoke timing

Thanks for a professional answer to my question. I rather get annoyed when these forums treat guess bad. But I figured if I didn't blowup and just keep to my question I would eventually get somewhere. Yes I do know about groùnding the plug wires and have done this with no problems. You have convince...

Re: Mercury 2 stoke timing

Yes the specs are for my outbd. Just going through checking everything plus to learn everything about this engine. After this season going to remove the powerhead to do a total cleaning and replace anything while I'm at it in my garage. Good next winter project.

Re: Mercury 2 stoke timing

Thanks for responding. The book is a seloc and motor is a 60 horse 3 cylinder 2 stroke. This model is what they call a bigfoot. I'll add somemore off the I'd plate today since I will be working on it.

Mercury 2 stoke timing

Started reading some of the post yesterday and there seems to be some knowledgeable folks on this site. Have a question on max timing. What is the difference between max cranking and WOT timing? Which one would do you use when static timing setting without plugs installed? I know to drop it down 4 d...

Check into a cedar built hot house. You can build your own. You can smoke anything and all comes out awesome.
