Plunkers are having the most success it seams. there was a boat of em...four rods out and i couldn't count the dou...

Cowlitz River/Blue Creek/Barrier Dam
What's the word on this river? Anyone fishing here and seeing anything? I know that springers are due and should be in the dam area. Is this the case yet?

I second the buzzbomb + hoochie method. slow retrieve, not jig and they can't lay off it.

I second that. It's the one endorsement you will need if you happen to catch river fever like the rest of us. There isn't a season that the Cowlitz doesn't have fish in it. You will be glad you did once you start hooking up there.Matt wrote:Buy the endorsement and hit the cow, its at the perfect level.

Are there still plenty of good bank areas to fish? Will hip waders be enough when the water is like this?scott080379 wrote:the problem is it if fed by a rain forest. Just keep and eye on the gauge, it is fishable even when high.

Anyone have any idea what the Bogey looks like right now. I have been planning a trip out there for the last three months and now it looks like I may have to cancel due to weather.

RE:Whats up with the Jack Holes at the cow
When the fish are stacked in and you are drifting any hookset can snag a fish. It's not the intent, but bump bump tug and set. If you miss fish A in the mouth chances are high that you snag fish B in the flank. It's just the way it is. The fish dont just take the bait and run like trout or bass. So ...

The only thing I dont like at Barrier is not letting your fish run and take out some line for that good ole wizzzzzzzzzzzzz out the reel. The fun of fishing is the fight. With combat style its hook-up and reel hard. Kinda takes the fun away. JMO. This is right. At the dam you need to hook em hard a...
