RE:Winter Steel

Fished the Pilchuck yesterday. Knew there was little chance of catching anything. Water was so fast the spinner was planing most of the time. Visibility- 6". I just couldn't resist when driving by and seeing one of the most popular spots empty. I always keep the rod in the truck. Felt good just to b...

RE:Sewer outfalls

Industrial pollution sounds a lot worse than sewage or storm water. But people flush a lot more down the crapper than just "Brown trout". I grew up in a time when people used to dump their used motor oil down the storm drain. Thank God times have changed but we could really use an on-going public aw...

Sewer outfalls

I'm always looking for places to bank fish. I noticed some good ones on the lower Snohomish as I-5 crosses it. And then saw the treatment plant on the other side. Found a map for comon sewer outfalls (CSO's) which are designed to dump sewage and storm runoff into the Snohomish River and Gardner Bay ...

How do you waterproof canvas?

I got a canvas cover for my welder and it was filthy. I srubbed it with degreaser and now it soaks up water like a sponge.
Does anyone know if I can treat it with something so it will shead water again?

Thanks,
Rob

This would be a really good thread to put on the Fish ID board.

You might want to start with an 8oz. ;)

There's nothing like the sound of the drag clicking on an old Penn.
It reminds me of captain Quint fishing for Jaws. :)

RE:no C&R of chums in the snohomish?

This is "somewhat" off topic but if you don't mind me asking:

They quit planting steelhead on the Pilchuck. When there are no more hatchery fish left- just the wild run, will all fishing have to stop?

RE:Paid $10 for some real old fishing meatstick rods and reels today.

You can cast them but not without the help of a 4-6oz banana weight and your thumb on the spool. But you will, on occasion, experience the worst backlash you've ever seen.

RE:ARE YOU IN THE TOP 2% OF INTELLIGENT PEOPLE IN THE WORLD?

I saw this years ago and didn't solve it then but interestingly enough, it probably wasn't Einstien that wrote the puzzle:

And Einstien never cluttered his mind with anything other than his work. He resused to even memorize phone numbers.

"Issaquah Creek" Fly Rod

A few years ago I inherited a fly rod from my father-in-law. The only writing on the rod is “Issaquah Creek”. I don’t know if that’s the brand or the model? It’s short, 6’-6” and has a Pflueger Medalist with braided line. I’m guessing it’s about 40 or 50 years old. I couldn’t find any info online. H...

Daylight kayaks

Fred Meyer in Snohomish had three of these for $150 each. I was wondering if anyone had one or knew something about it.

(What's with the holes going all the way through it? )

RE:Pit Bulls, what do you think?

I think owner vs breed is not the issue. I'ts the amount of damage the pitbull can do. Fatalities don't give the full picute of the suffering caused by certain breeds. Some udated stats From 2005 to 2009, pit bulls killed 82 Americans, about one citizen every 22 days, versus rottweilers, which kille...

RE:Good lightweight rain parka?

I read about Frogg Toggs but half the reviews were negative. But for $40 and Costco's return policy I might give them a try. I bought a surplus Austrian "gore tex" jacket from SG. What a disapointment. I think the liner was gore tex so the outer shell shed water for a about 5minutes and then it star...
