Catching smaller bass is also a good way to determine if the lure & presentation are working. Once you've determined that you're in the sweet spot by catching smaller bass, you could up-size in an effort to attract bigger fish.

Hmm... maybe I'll have to give that a try this year. For example, when bass are hitting a small fire tiger crankbait, I'll tie on a bigger one (same color, profile, & diving depth) just to see what happens. No doubt I'll catch less fish -- that's a given. The real question is will I catch more of the bigger fish? We shall see...
Nothing wrong with wanting to catch a lot of fish at all! And also note, you can upsize all you want but you will still catch small fish here and there. I got so many 2-4lb class fish last year with big baits it wasn't even funny (and it really wasn't when I was trying to go after the lunks haha)

Depends if you want 2 be a "Tournament Basser" or a "Big Bass Hunter",..they both have their place,..as for me I'd like 2 "Hunt-Big-Bass",..I've caught my share of 2-4 LBRS and for me there is more of challenge 2 seek/catch the "Bigguns",..not knockin Tourney Bassesrs @ all,..I love Tournaments and will compete in my fair share,..there's just something about going for the "Big-Girls",..also of you're not interested in one or the other,..then you can always just be that "Weekend-Basser",..wich is good 2,..just depends on what the individual wants 2 do with the knowledge they receive and the gear that they select!

Tizzag,..PTSD==way 2 funny!

Ya know..Tag hit it on the head when he said not to let the Senko be a crutch. I fell into that a few years back. I caught a lot of fish with it and quality fish too. Problem was...I wouldn't put it down. I'd throw it it knowing the fish might hit it. How many fish did I miss as a result? Don't let any one bait bait be a crutch. I know confidence is a key in any bait, but be versatile. Conditions change by the minute and you have to be ready and aware. Use a number of techniques and be proficient at them. As was said...let the fish tell you. Versatility is the key.

Gotcha. I'm just starting with it now as a beginner bait though.
