When I meet guys on the NW Bass curcuit from the other side of the state Long Lake is inevitably ends up in the conversation.

My comment about 8lb. line being absurd wasn't intended to be hurtful. I was just trying to make a point. Obviously you can fish however you want. It appeared to me that the guy was trying to figure out what he SHOULD be using vs what COULD be used...which is what you were saying. We don't know what the guy is trying to accomplish and making a bold statement like you only need ONE thing probably isn't that much help to him. Can we have a group hug now?

I guess I know other lakes well enough that it is often hard to go to a new place when you know you will do well already. Of course, most of these lake are not big enough for tournaments. I had my day, fishing out of Colorado Springs, and I won enough to know I can, but tournaments just don't do it for me anymore. I fish more for my own peace, and relaxation, so I suppose our goals are different.

I was told when I came to Spokane that Long Lake was know as (
and now Mike or Aaron are going to nail me to the wall) **** lake, because of all the times the Spokane City waste water treatment plant had backed up or spilled sewage into Long. It takes a lot of courage to want to fish a lake with a reputation like that.
I admit, I am getting over what I was told, but it was not that long ago when the death accused at the sewage plant when it again broke down and spilled thousands of gallons into the Spokane River, directly above Long Lake.
So, forgive me when I think that perhaps, just maybe, I don't think Long Lake is something special. I meant no offense, kidding or otherwise. And who knows, perhaps someday, when I get over the fact that I am suppose to wait to launch until 0630 and am suppose to be off the water and out of the area by dusk (1/2 hour after sunset), that I may include Long in one of my top 5 list.
Too much water, so many fish, too little time.
