I am just looking for a good place to go camping and catch a few bass. We will be taking some women along so the campground has to be fun as well.

I would have to recommend Mar Don resort on potholes reservoir. The lake is full of large and small mouth bass, and has TONS of cover for both species. Not to mention a 100 or so seep lakes that hold bass as well. The resort also has a swim area and beach, and a cafe/cocktail lounge. There is also a play ground if you plan on bringing any kids, and there is H20 water rentals that will take the jet skies right to the lake. There is paddle boats, party barges and fishing boats for rent as well. This is where my family has been coming for years. We've always had kids and non-fishers that still have a blast at this resort. There is also a web page for this resort with directions, pictures, fishing reports and a list of everything else they have to offer. Iv been going to this lake since I was was 18 months old, feel free to PM with any questions

Thanks for the response I will definitely check it out. I only have a float tube right now but my sea doo should be up and running in a few days, so that could work as my super fast bass tracker. It is a 3 seater so I don't have to worry about tipping.

That's a pretty good idea. The north west corner of the reservoir is full of sand dunes. Some of the channels to get through are pretty tight, and Iv seen people do this a lot at this lake. There are some huge fish back in those dunes too. The 18' bass boats cant make it into some of these places, so it ll be all you. There are "private" beaches back in there too. You could probably have a pretty relaxing day of fishing and the ladies could sun bathe on their own private beach

Peirre lake in Stevens Co has a forest service campgroud on the lake. Bass are there, although you have to fish with larger gear to get away from all the smaller bass. The campground can get a little wild in the evening after the sun and keystone light takes it toll. There is a swimming area and and a boat launch

Just got back from Banks lake and it was incredible...but you really need a boat to get to some of the good spots. Neat thing is though, you can boat out to some islands and penisulas and just pitch a tent, and fish all day.

Check out the "Tackle Box Tales" on this site for several good camping/fishing destinations. I have been to all of them.

The dune area is very very large. But come August the water will drop and a lot of the dunes become land. But this is a good thing.....dont worry, this is when the fishing gets the best, the fish loose a lot of their hidding spots. But as far as launching into the dunes its going to be kind of tough. I have never been there but the power lines boat launch will probally be your best bet. I have never launched there or even been there but have heard really good stuff about it. This will put you right in the dunes. But you can also try dragging your kayak up to the water past perch point then rowing to the dunes. You can also find places to dump your kayak up around winchester wastway and frenchmens wastway then rowing. But this is the best place to fish for everything and it is very pretty. For the first 13 years I fished the reservoir we had a small boat and an 8 hp motor. Me and my dad would run to crab creek every morning while on vacation, it would take around 45 min. from the resort. But we would still wake up and do it evry morning, and have no problem doing it. But I would be worried about brake ins. I know they have a pretty big problem at the resort, then there is a post in the off topic section, about a man who had his stuff stolen from heart lake wich is really close, very sad story. But as long as I have been going there I havnt had any problems, other than some kids stealing beer out of my cooler and some punk taking my stringer of fish off the dock...... who does that? But I better knock on wood, because it can happen to any one. But dont let that keep you from fishing here, the fishing is great

gpc,Thank you for all the info,I'm not overly concerned about the break in as you said it can happen anywhere...it sounds like a lot of fun over at potholes and that a little G.P.S. unit might be a good thing.....Thanks and Good Luck,Alan

Depending on the water level, you can launch off of the Job Corps Dike. But the power lines luanch might be the best.
