Its Almost That Time

Well I went into Fred Meyers to get some Bqq fixing for the next few days, and as always had to check out the fishing section just to see if there was anything i couldnt live with out. Walked around the corner and sweet mother of god,
Can you say a sea of pink! Buzz Bombs in every size, jigs for insane amounts of money, spoons, corkies, yarn. Got that "humpie feeling" going. So now im all freaked out between that and sockeye. Its gonna be a ruff few months and if anyone has a couch i can use cause the wife is already getting unhappy
Just kiding, its hard to keep her outta the boat sometimes!
So i just got done ordering my jigs for the year plus a few extra from a few different sites. 125 in total. 3/8 & 1/4oz with a combo of hoochies and marabou. should be good to go! and at about a 1/4 of the price of the ones you get in the stores.
Anyone else ready for this yet? Pinks are not my favorite fish to catch, they are in the top 5. But the allure of 20,30 or more fish in a day is just mind boggling!

I'm looking forward to 'em. Pinks are one of my favorite fish to fish for! Sockeye are up there too, and that is going to be very fun as well. I tie all my own jigs, and my wife likes to tie them even more, so we're going to do that soon. But in the meantime I'm having a blast with summer steelhead and kings.

I always do the same thing at most stores with a fishing section. Never know what you can find on sale.

Yea i just cant stand paying $2-3 bucks a jig. Sometimes more! when i can buy the heads and stuff in bulk and make them for about 60 cents! Then i dont feel so bad when I get hung up or bust a fish off

I don't really mind paying, IF THEY WORK!
I bought a bunch of cheap ones on ebay and they were garbage. Paint all came off the heads, the chenille unwrapped and feathers coming out and all that without touching a fish!
But yeah, I'll try making my own, and if I can do it well (and have time!) I won't need to spend 3 bucks a jig.

Wow - you go through a lot of jigs! Last pink run I was getting around 15 fish per jig.

This will be my first year trying to get them, hope I figure it out! Mainly unsure where there's good bank access while they're still in salt or lower portion of rivers cuz I'm gonna try eating them/smoking them. Been on google maps a lot! Duwi/Green is where I'll spend most of my time trying to get into them. Good luck all! Hope to fish with ya something this summer/fall 360!

Check out gringo pescador's post in the classifieds. He also has a video that shows how to tie his pink jig.
Also, Toni makes a great pig jig (wannafish a lure), she's another sponsor. Her jigs are featured on the pink jigging shipwreck video from two years ago.

I live like 2 minutes away from the lower snohomish, a good solid month of fishing everyday goes thru a few. But i usaully end up giving some away to friends and making a little money back on the side of the rivers

Twitchin jigs is a blast. My go to system was chuckin wicked willies until one day I pulled a jig off a log and threw it on. That on a 3ft light trout rod was awesome. I'll be pitchin jigs and catchin hundreds a day up on the skagit. Never gets old

Thanks Mike but pig jig?
Mine are little different since they have a stinger loop and hook. They work real well in the salt.
My Fred Meyer had a display of pink jigs and etc. in the middle isle. First time I ever saw that before.

I've always just used a pink corky and shrimp then realize I don't need shrimp! Gunna have to try this jig twitching malarkey though. Do you use chenile for the body? Or would rabbit or something work better?

jigg'in for pinks!!!! what a blast!! Rubber ones, feather ones, hair ones and don't forget the yarn! What do they all have in common? Any color, as long as it's pink! I bought about a hundred pink mini squids a couple years ago and I got a ton of the wire hook jigs. I won't use them for anything but pinks. Good time to dwindle the supply, my hook box is awful heavy. I hate wasting good feathers on ingrates. I'm thinking some fine feathery jigs and then a whole box of rubber ones... Oh yeah I got jigs, you need one??? Every time out someone's bumm'in for some.

60 cents for a pink salmon when all you need is like 25 cents, 12 cents for a pink corky, 10 cents for a hook & 3 cents for line.
Actually I am really looking forward to quilcene silvers and Skagit river pink and silver fishing, skok kings also sound fun too.
