I am new to this, I looked up on google images 11th to freeman and it is a 6.5 mile stretch. Where do I park? It looks like on google images there are some dirt road turnouts or observation points. Any suggestions appreciated.

you have to be very careful where you park! they don't let you park right on the side of river road anymore. The last year or two they opened a pay to park area by the soccer fields, it sucks but your on your own anywhere else...luv2boutdoors wrote:I am new to this, I looked up on google images 11th to freeman and it is a 6.5 mile stretch. About half way between Value Village and EQC casino,luv2boutdoors wrote:where are the soccer fields located? What is the parking fee? Do, i just cart my stuff over to the river bank anywhere within the stretch from 11th to freeman and drop a line?
never paid but I heard it was $5 ( probably 10 this year)
when you see people scurrying across the road you will know
be careful crossing the road
please try to learn the casting drill before casting out of turn, <<<<this can sometimes be more dangerous than crossing the road! LOL

I am strating to get scared now, casting drill? Hopefully there are genuine people out there that will help me out instead of preying on my weakness of not really knowing what I am doing.
Re: puyallup opening
the person in the direction of the river flow casts first, then the next and so on, so if your on the fred meyers/kmart side the river flows left, the fisherman to your left casts to his approximate 1'o'clock, then you cast to your 1'o'clock and so on, if the river is flowing to your right you just do the opposite, hope this helps and doenst confuse you much, but if you go down and watch for a few minutes before casting you should catch on fairly quickly, and dont be afraid to ask questions! you got nothing to lose if you ask respectfully, one or more kind souls will usually oblige to help

Re: puyallup opening
luv2boutdoors, last year was my first on the Puyallup, but I've done a lot of river/drift fishing. simple rule when drift fishing in a crowd (aka combat fishing) is the person downstream casts first. otherwise if the person upstream casts first lines are sure to get crossed. and be sure to wait for the guys immediately upstream from you to reel in before casting.
i'm hoping that since there are no pinks that the crowds will be smaller. but even in the hectic crowd last year i always fished along side people who were willing to help. tight lines!

Re: puyallup opening
Saw one fish hooked and fought for about 10 seconds today before it spit the hook. Pretty good sized fish, too.
Nothing much in the river yet, but they are there. Maybe we'll get some rain tonight to bring more fish into the river.

Re: puyallup opening
Look forward to fishing there but will wait for a couple of weeks and maybe some more rain

Re: puyallup opening
Read it carefully, those closed days are the native tribe netting schedule on a specific section of the river, you can fish upstream of where the white dumps in during those closed days.. just make sure your familiar with the different sections of the river that are listed in the book or ask someone if your not sure...ImmaGirlFishin wrote:Glad to see rains, hope it brings in more fish.
