tactics for river kings

tactics that work for me. is to bring more than one bait and that has paid off alot. fish early morning and late afternoon. line 12# to 15# treasure z for mainline, leader runs from 10# to 15# maxima flourocarbon depending on mainline, 10# leader for 12# mainline and 12# leader for 15# mainline depends on you. fish bigger size baits and plugs and lures. fish harware in slow pools, retrive it slow but fast enough for action. i prefer RVR FSHR spoons in 50/50. spinners blue fox, mepsin blues, blacks, reds, chartruce finishes. medium to heavy power rods. learn seams and tailouts that might hold summer-run metal along with kings. fish slower water, kings dont like super fast currents but dont hesitate to throw in to them. watch river flows and count at hatcheries.
READ YOUR REGS . dont fish in combat fishing zones... elbow to elbow is a waste of time and effort.if you cannot tell a bite or bump from the bottom set the hook anyways.
:viking::thumright :thumleft: Use big and small corkies in flame reds, bright greens, blacks and anything in you box to entice them in to crushing it. Make sure to cover all the holes, seams, eddies, points and tailouts. in that section of that river you are on.

These are hatchery fish so would krill scent be best since they were raised on fish food? I know they aren't eating but would the familiarity be a plus?
I'm thinking about bouncing a spin-n-glo with candied roe, yarn, and some krill scent, see if I can keep the skunk streak going.

Even with the high off color water last week there were big kings jumping all over the place in the lower Skagit river. We even considered taking the hooks off of a few plugs and doing some exploratory "tackle testing" and fish for knock-downs. But after a thorough review of the regs I was unsure if this would be legal. Although fishing without hooks is not specifically prohibited I decided not to chance a fine or gear seizure. We'll just have to wait another few weeks.

I am gonna hit the Skykomish Saturday or Sunday. Any ideas on gear or hot spots? Never fished the river before and mostly just a trout fisherman. Looking to widen my variety with fishing.
Thanks
