Fishing at Bradley Lake
Going to Bradley Lake this afternoon. Hope the fishing is good....
RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake
You should do well,it was stocked last week. Don't know the official numbers. The majority of trout caught was around 5-8inches..in the last few weeks but there is a healthy population of triploids, mostley hanging at the bottom. Max,depth here is only 18 feet(out from dock) No secret lures here. I think just about everything works.

That is tiny small. 5-8"? I can't keep anything under 12" cause it's hard to fillet and get any meat. The 9" are fun to fight though...kevinb wrote: The majority of trout caught was around 5-8inches.
RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake
they get lots of 4-10# rainbows there two. Only problem is the place is small and gets PACKED
RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake

RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake
We just got back from fishing there 2:10-3:20pm. My son got his legal limit and I got 2. We did not catch and release. 2 have already been consumed and the rest are going to be smoked. I was using my spinners I made and he was using a Mepps. I didn't catch any until I put one of his Mepps on.
One intresting thing, they didn't start biting until the birds got out of the water. They started surfing and we started catching.

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Right on,might head up there tomorrow, depending on weather. You make your own spinners? Thats awesome. I think I talked to you before about home made lures, you could start a thread on that.

Right on Toni! Keep them buggers and smoke em up! Way to go getting your son out on the water, that's what it's all about! How long were the trout? Any length/weight? Carry-overs?Toni wrote:We just got back from fishing there 2:10-3:20pm. My son got his legal limit and I got 2. I am sure they were plants. 2000 went in on the 7th. 1 was about 8inches but the rest were 10-12. I didn't measure them but with out the head they were perfect for the 10 inch frying pan.kuttkilla wrote:Right on Toni! Keep them buggers and smoke em up! You should start a thread on home made spiners...I'd love to learn how to make my own spinners, that's for sure. What a fun hobby, and your kid can help you make them, and then you guys go out and catch fish with them, even sweeter! Make sure you post a report and show some pictures of your home-made lures or start a new thread. Sweet stuff!!kevinb wrote:Right on,might head up there tomorrow, depending on weather. There has been a thread which is part of where I learned to do it. Try searching for "making lures".kevinb wrote: I think I talked to you before about home made lures, you could start a thread on that.

Didn't catch anything today. Was there from 1430 until 1615. I will have to try again later, it was my first time there.

RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake
The girlfriend and I were there on Weds from 1-3PM. We only caught 3 between the 2 of use. 1 on powereggs. 1 on a small kastmaster, and 1 on a roostertail.
We werent able to fish off the dock, because there were other people there.
Action was very slow.
Also, the trouts were roughly 8".

RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake
My son and I were there Thursday for about an hour. He hooked up first on a spinner, and I hooked up shortly after. Both fish were small, in the 8" range. my boy kept his because it inhaled his lure and was a bleeder. This small lake does get some big fish planted in it. On the other hand it does get fised out pretty fast too. The crazy weekend is when there is a kids derby, the whole lake is packed full. Unfourtantly, the crouds leave lots of garbage. So do us all a favor and pack out your trash.
RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake
I'm headed up there today with my son. Maybe I can get some pics of a decent trout or my first bucketmouth of the year.

RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake
I was at the east end if my direction is right.... (not the dock end). I tried all my power bait and seemed to get nothing....There were alot of those birds flying around. Maybe I should of brought a shotgun instead of a fishing pole.....LOL
RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake
Just got back from Bradley...fishing was ok.Nothing big,7incher. Got really ticked off. I had my 2 year old son with me,about 45min. into fishing. Some wanna be thug gangstas brought a boom box..Yes,a (boombox) like some horrible 80's flick. Playing terrible music(ton of kids around) I don't want to hear their lame gangsta tunes. I went to move to a differant spot and had to walk past them. I thought they would be young kids,No,...these guys were in there 30's(so,sad:-({|= ) I couldn't stop laughing, this one guy had a jacket with dollar bills painted on it(it looked like it was made by Ray Charles) I should of taken a pic,but I wanted to get my kid out of there quick.
If your ever in this situation and you can't get away from the music and 30 year olds acting like Jr. high kids, hurry, find a pencil and jam it in your eye. This might help you,at least the pain will sidetrack you temporarly.

RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake
I think the best way to fish Bradley is kind of close to the dock, maybe a little closer to the parking lot, and close tot he shore. When the cormorants are on their hunt it seems like fishing just dies down, but ive been catching them on kastmasters and they bite real close to the shore. half the time i can see them attack the lure. so either that or maybe a short cast with a short leader using powerbait. also small weight. theres a lot of weeds out there to get tangled up in.
RE:Fishing at Bradley Lake
When we were there on Sat. there was a guy walking around playing a flute. It was nice. You can never be sure who is going to show up in a public area.kevinb wrote:Just got back from Bradley...fishing was ok.Nothing big,7incher. Got really ticked off.
