Brown and Brook Trout in Eastern Washington
What are the best lakes on the East side of the state for Brown and Brook Trout... I catch a lot of Rainbows but I kinda want to try to catch some of these trout... Anyone know of any good lakes?

Fish Lake by Cheney has Tiger Trout and Brook Trout in large abundance. Power Lake up in the hills in Pend Orielle has mostly Brook Trout.

If you are fly fishing and not using a motor of any kind, Medical Lake is good for Brown Trout. My dad always told me these fish were called Loch Laven. They are originally a transplant from Loch Laven (pronounced lock lay'ven) in Scotland and not from Germany. Hence, they don't have the bright spots or bright gold/yellow color as the German Browns.
If you are fishing hardware, Clear Lake is loaded with them.
Good Luck,

I once caught an 8 1/4 pound rainbow at Waitts Lake. I was trolling the north end with leaded line, flashers and a rapala perch pattern. Got my picture in the Outdoor Press for my 15 minutes of fame. That was the worst tasting fish I've ever encountered. I'll never keep a rainbow that big again. It was old brood stock and very oily. The last time I was at Waitts last year toward the end of the season, I saw literally thousands of brown trout schooling within 15 feet of the launch. They're tough to entice to a lure when they school like that.
