Hey everybody I'm new to Washington I live in silverdale and I'm itching to do some fishing. I went trout fishing up in the mountains in north Carolina on the good ole camping trips. And now that I'm up here in Washington I feel like I have some good opportunities to get out in some of the most beautiful places in America and fish. I need all the info I can get cause this is a totally new place to me. Thanks.

I'm not really sure. What do you think? I'm open to everything.

Here is a quick 7-step plan for ya

Step 1. Buy a license
Step 2. Go to Google Maps and find lakes in your area
Step 3. Look up those lakes in the reports section of this site. Review what people are catching and how.
Step 4. Pick a lake
Step 5. Review the WDFW fishing regulations.
Step 6. Gear up
Step 7. Go fishing!

You also might want to review your previous threads to see what all has been posted in them. Might be something in there that you missed or forget about. [biggrin]

I would start out with trout. The state is stocking thousands in many lakes around western Washington. They should be easy to catch once the weather cooperates. Spawning bass and other panfish wouldnt be more active till May/June, but its still possinle to catch them now with a little know how.

As some have said, start out with the hatchery stocked trout. They are fun for even experienced fisherman. If you have a boat, you can catch these fish easily by trolling. I usually use a Flatfish or Hotshot, or troll various flys, the wolley bugger the most popular. All you need is a swivel with about 3 feet of leader, and start fishing! It's my favorite way of fishing. And might I ad, go with the Berkley Trout Dough Series rod. These things are so fun with trout. [biggrin]

Go on WDFW.wa.gov and check out the lakes they're stocking in your area. You'll have a blast fishing in Washington state.
