Don't Forget -- RENEW your license!

Post by irishrogue » Mon Mar 31, 2008 5:40 pm

Friendly reminder that your old license will expire tonight! (Unless of course you're young and lucky enough not to need one for the fishing you do!)

Thanks for the reminder. Good lookn out!
I think with my recent trip to the sperm bank I should be able to afford another one. :safe:

Got mine renewed tonight. I actually had to go behind the counter and show the guy at Walmart how to do it. Rang it up and everything. He just laughed and said "You musta done this before."

Yeah, for about 25 years now hehe....

Hopefully the new license will help me catch more fish.

I renewed mine online on the 21st and they gave me a temp 10 day one that I could print until the new one shows up in the mail. Well the temp one is now expired now and I don't have the new one yet #-o. Hopefully I get it before Saturday.

Thanks for the the reminder. Did it online many weeks ago -- just need to put in tackle box. It was pretty easy to do online ahead of time, my first time trying it.

There was an officer checking the bank anglers at Beaver Lake Park on 3/22 -- I swear he must have read all of the chatter on WL.com about plans to fish the lake. We had beached the boat to use the facilities, so he checked us. My buddy got real lucky when he only got a warning for not having his license with him! Dude said he would mail him a ticket if he really did not have a license on record. Saved $105, I think it was. Nice officer!

"Hopefully the new license will help me catch more fish." I am sure it will.

Don't want to talk about bodily fluids at this time. :)
==urban== please don't tell me to C&R or to fish your way, thank you

Those of you that get them online, make sure you sign them. They are invalid otherwise.

I got mine last Saturday, and put it in the tacklebox already. The good news is that I found my old Chubby & Tubby license holder, and the new license can be folded to fit. My six-year old - who I'm taking out to Green Lake this week for his first ever time fishing - reminded me at breakfast this morning that my license is effective as of today.

I was told by a fellow, that you cant leave your license in the tacklebox while fishing. It has to be on your body, or there's a chance you'll get ticketed.

True - it is stated in the regs, page 20, License Information"

#1. Fishing License Requirements
- Everyone 15 years of age or older must have a license.
- Federal and state law requires persons 15 years or older to give their Social Security Number..blah blah blah
- Licenses must be on your person while fishing.

Wow, that's dumb. I don't keep my wallet on my person either.

The Washington Administrative Code (WAC 220-55-015) says: "It is unlawful for any person required to have a recreational license to take or possess fish, shellfish, seaweed, or wildlife for personal use without having in physical possession a valid license or a valid internet or telephone authorization number." The rule is "physical possession." In general, "physical possession" would normally mean "on or about one's person]is[/i] in your "physical possession." After all, if you had some kind of contraband sitting next to you as you fished, you can bet that it would be deemed in your "physical possession" - and there is no reason to believe that your license would be treated any differently.

Please do not treat this as legal advice (in general, free legal advice isn't worth what you pay for it).
