Has anyone camped/fished here recently?? I was thinking about camping here rather than Mardon's. Cheaper for sure, but I have always enjoyed Mardon's...take care all!

Still in toss up between here and mardons. thanx for the heads up!jbball50 wrote:We went there last week, not sure if you'd be able to get a spot if you're trying to go there during the weekend for the next few weeks. We ended up getting the last spot open calling in a few days ahead of when we went there.

As always there are the bugs! If you don't have a boat I'd stay at Mardon just for the fishing dock and you can walk down the rocks of the dam and catch fish all day. The fishing would be to tuff at the State Park but what skhan said is exactly what I would say and do if where to head over, but you need a boat. Bring the spray!!jens wrote:Thanx man! I read a review on the internet and someone camped in the site 90?? said that is a good spot to fish from your site..
How are the mosquitos??? and fishing there?
That campsite is probably the tent site that's by frenchman's wasteway, there should be alright fishing for bass and catfish there. The mosquitos were pretty bad during the night when we got back in from fishing.jens wrote:Thanx man! I have had some squirrels go into my golf bag, but never in my tent! That'd about freak me out.skhan wrote:jens,
The Skeeters weren't so bad in mid July. A few at dusk but I didn't even have to use repellant. I was able to sleep comfortably in my boat under open skies for 3 nights and didn't pitch my tent due to the sprinklers. Beware though, there are some highly skilled chipmunks in that park that can even open zippers. They unzipped my bag and frequently raided my bread.
If you guys are there until 8/26- me and my son will be at Mardons too!
