Turkey parts or Horse Clams
Re: Favorite crab bait
Hey racfish, I'm thinking of trying this horse clam idea. I know where I can get some at low tide, but its kind of a PITA to get my boat out at low tide, so two totally separate trips. Do you think I could collect some horse clams in advance and freeze them? Or would freezing them ruin the viability?racfish wrote:Turkey parts or Horse Clams
Also do you just put them in the bait cage whole/live? or do you crack them open? smash them up?

Freezing is fine. Refrigerator is fine too. I've used whatever clams I can find. Horse clams stay in the bait cage better. Break the shell before putting them in.

Never use rotten or freezer burnt stuff. Always go as fresh as possible. My preference in salmon or any kind of fish. Free is the keyword

We have different techniques. I let my chicken or turkey get defrosted then set them out till they turn. I just find that fresh or freezer burned fowl work just fine.
