Hmm, list my "toys" on the internet - not. Like fishing rods, I have several to choose from depending on the task at hand, and the caliber is always appropriate for the task.tight lines wrote:why is it a ton of people will view posts people put up but hardly anyone will post a comment or participate in the post. just wondering](*,) [-x

Yep, but I don't have to worry about someone knocking on my door to gather up my boat or the goodies on it. My guns are a completely different story.Dustin07 wrote:30.06 for anything with more than 2 legs.

RE:what calibers do you hunt with
I use a 30-06 with 165 grain bullets. I`ve never had any trouble knocking down deer, elk or my moose. I guess it`s what feels comfortable to you. I have guys in my camp that also use 300 win mags and 338 win mags. Although I do think a 338 is a bit big unless your hunting elephant.

Years back when I did hunt, and I should again... I used a Winchester 30-30.
Dont have any rifles since leaving the Army.

RE:what calibers do you hunt with
I suppose it would be a lot easier if I only had 1-2 rifles.....that would make the decision making process a whole lot easier!!! As it stands right now I prefer my Marlin 336 in 30-30, Marlin 444P and Winnie 94 in 44 Mag for whitetail. If I do hunt muleys I carry my Savage 110 in 243 Winchester....the accuracy I get with this rifle is ridiculous! I recently acquired a Savage in 30-06 that's never been bloodied but I can't bring myself to displace my other favorites. It may get carried this year if I should get an elk tag. And when the rain falls and the snow flies, I carry a Winchester 1300 slug gun or Savage Model 99 .308, both of which have iron sights. To this day I still prefer open sights and have no aversions to using them.
