KALISPELL, Mont. -- The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks has confirmed that an 8.8 pound largemouth bass caught on the Noxon Rapids Reservoir is a state record.

Darin Williams of Pinehurst, Idaho, caught the 22.5-inch fish on May 2 during a bass fishing tournament. The previous state record was an 8.29 pound bass caught at Many Lakes east of Kalispell in 1999.

Williams released the fish after the weigh-in.

I think it is about time for a washingtonlakes member to set a new record here in Washington. I'm sure there is a 12 pounder out there just waiting for a nice looking, good smelling jig to come drifting down into his lair :)
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

Nice lookn fish. That must have been a pretty sweet tourny, big fish and the state record. Congrats to that guy. I can't wait to break Tag's WA state record fish. Only a matter of time.
