Ok, hear is the plan lets all share some secrets or tecniecs for fishing the beloved area 11.
My example : I have found that the silvers can be found right now, very easily, right off of redondo (caught my limit today 7/22/07)
The largest kings are being caught from my information right infront of the dash point fishing dock. (we released a 25+lb native king there today) (also was there when a 18lb king was caught of dash point dock)
Best king trolling setup 80' to 90' deep and in about 100' to 120' feet of water right near the shore line.
Best casting setup is a white dart.
Fishing or Hunting any thing in the outdoors is what I live for.
To all, the number for poachers is on the bottom of you fishing license! Use it! They will come!

LAst year, it was though to get silvers in the sound, but when we finnaly did catch one on herring, we found it was full of squid. So we re-rigged, but didnt use those hoochie things, we used more realistic squids.

One thing I have noticed, over the years, is that people fish the Redondo/Dash Pt. area too deep. The migrating fish can be found in 100' of water or less especially if there is a high tide. I only use hoochies, Coho Killers and Coyote spoons and I have caught my fair share of kings and silvers.

In the early morning hours you don't even need downriggers to catch kings and silvers. A six ounce banana weight in front of your offering will do. If you fish the afternoon the fish are going to be deeper but no more than 100'.

Whenever we fished des moines all we use was a 4oz lead and a fifty-hundred pulls of line.

We got lot's of fish kings up to 25lbs, and silvers and pinks too.

Thats what Im talking about guys. Share the knowledge
Im still pretty new to the salt water but have made area 11 my learning tool.

One new thing I just learned
The comensment bay closure is due to the fact that a large number of salmon just sit there in the clay colored water and aclamate themselves to the freshwater. No fishing there because they are sitting ducks.
Question are treble hooks legal in area 11 (barbles)
Hey easy limits I would agree with you 100% we have been trolling our gear in and out of the 90' mark and as close to bottom as possible.
P.s. we have not caught one dog fish yet (knock on wood)
Fishing or Hunting any thing in the outdoors is what I live for.
