Ice fishing on Sprague near the State launch is NEVER good. Pay the $5 and park at the upper end. Cross over and fish the springs.

I've heard of said springs.how do you locate them?is the ice thinner there due to the warmer spring water?are panfish also found there or just trout?

Not sure how to find them I'm sure AA can give some input, but prior to the kill off that was an excellent place to catch jumbo Crappie at 12" +.

it kills me they ruined that fishery right before I moved to Spokane. It sucks our taxes and license fees are being utilized in such a way and I feel bad for the resort owners who have probably seen an incredible loss in revenue.

Yes, fishing on Scootney was slow and perch is small too.

I've seen nothing but trout in in almost 4 years of fishing the lake and they can be few and far between

I once marked the springs in the "hot spots". I will try to give more info later.

The resorts were complaining about the low numbers of fishermen prior to the kill off. Few knew how to catch the huge crappie. Fewer could catch the 6# plus walleye. In reality, even though killing the walleye was the stated goal, killing off the massive carp population was necessary.

The trout were thick as fleas the last few years but stoched numbers are being reduced with expectations the LMB any gills and crappie will take over. I hope fishermen locate the gills and crappie, if they took. The LMB are starting to take and a lot of Dink's showed up this summer.

No perch, SMB, or walleye were stocked. I miss the walleye, but the perch and SMB were all but gone before the kill.

The Yakima area ponds are 4 -5" Best ice we've had in some time. panfish/trout /bass are there for you to try for. have not heard about the Ellensburg area ponds but they should be the same.

There are others of course but the I-82 ponds are popular.

Does anyone know if the pond in Yakima off easy valley mall boulevard by the park is a juvenile pond? I thought it was from looking at it online before, I forgot the name of the pond but some guy this summer said it wasn't when he was coming back to the parking lot from fishing it.

The only juvenile pond in the bunch, I think, is at Sarge Hubbard Park, off Yakima Ave, but I don't know for sure. The local fish & wildlife office has maps of all those, and can answer with greater authority.

Alright thanks, yeah maybe I got those two confused thinking it was that one when we visited it during the summer. Only if I didn't have to go to a wrestling tourney tomorrow I'd either go check that area out or Scooteney with the girlfriend. Hopefully the ice holds up for Sunday, but don't really want to try it out alone. Kind of sucks that it's going to start warming up this weekend and next week.

Oh, oops.... I missed that.. There are a few.. I've fished 3 of them,,, in the Spring and summer, never ice fished there. The one I seem to fish most often is actually off of I-82, just south of I 90, there is two ponds there. I don't know the name. I'll dig around and see if I can find it. I've only caught small stuff there.............
