Shimano Bantam 50

Post by spokey9 » Tue Apr 16, 2013 6:59 pm

i just bought a pile of poles off of craigslist and in there was a shimano bantam 50. kinda wondering what the value of it is and whether it's worth putting in the shop to get cleaned and lubed.

I like to use the older Shimanos for fresh water trolling applications as I can find them in left hand retrieve at a decent price. If I'm thinking of the correct reel, the 50 has a fairly large capacity that would make it great for salmon or other good sized fresh water fish.

Yeah it's big for a low profile baitcaster, it's rated for 185yds of 20lb line.

Those are nice reels and if in good shape can fetch upwards of $100.
