Looking For A Lenz

I've always wanted to find a Lenz reel. I used to fish with one when I was a kid, and loved it. It was our neighbor's reel, I only got to use it.
Over my many years I have only seen one and it was in sad shape. I know they were made in Seattle, Wa. Any information is appreciated.

Go in sometime to, "Ed's Surplus and Marine" located about 1 blk. East of Hwy 99, on 196th Street. (Lynnwood)
It is an interesting place. They have a mix of new fishing gear, but a fair amount of used gear. I found a Abu Garcia level wind reel from the late '60's that was in MINT condition. Love it so much, that I sold most all my other level winds, and started exclusively collecting this one. There is a glass case with all their used/OLD reels in it. Most of them look like garbage, you will be surprised sometimes what you see. they also have some interesting old spoons. Their flies are quite cheap as well.

Try "Lincs "on Rainier Ave So. They have old and new gear. Its a great spot to see a lot of old fishing gear. The original owner was the inventor of the Okie Drifter. His son now runs the shop.

Thanks db340. You are right, But I looked at that Lenz a year ago, when he wanted $100 for it alone. It is only good as a collector piece. It is in very bad shape. The screws that hold it together are all different and the mounting bracket is broken, as is the other side where it should attach to the mount. So I am still looking!!!!!!!!

Try Plug Ugly in LaConnor. I have found collectibles there. But have not stopped by for a couple years. I assume he is still open. At least worth a phone call.

Ii have talked to him a couple of times. It's been a few years since he has had one. He gave me a number of a guy in Tacoma that has several of these, but he isn't selling any of his collection. Thanks for the thought, as I'm still searching, searching.

18ftTrophy, if you are ever on Whidbey, go into a little antique store on the main street of Coopville. There is a small place that the guy carries a lot of antique fishing gear. A fair amount of reels, and far from the usual junk I find. Whenever I am on the island I go in there specificly looking for a Lenz.
As you prob already know.... Also, those "Antique Malls"--- retail spaces that have many individual vendor spaces selling old collectible junk. These places are great for old fishing tackle. Mostly u will think these places are selling, old dishes, and household junk, etc. but almost every time there is at least 2-3 vendors with old fishing gear.

Thanks for replay. I do look in Antique Malls, swap meets, garage sales, and estate sales. This has been a life quest for me, over fifty years. Are you looking for yourself? So I'm still searching, searching.

I kid you not.... I am always looking for a Lenz reel for you. I have a circuit of antiquey type stores that I role through constantly, both in 206 land, and Eastern WA. And when I'm in new areas, and I see one if these old time "Collectables" stores, I pull off and look....... One day....
