I remember when Rasar State Park first opened in 1997. As you can imagine after construction which requires tree and vegetation removal, the sites had little to no privacy. Today the park is beautiful and now that everything has grown back, most of the sites are private though somewhat close to one another and some have water and electricity. There are some first come first served sites available but are restricted to a one night stay according to the sign at the onsite ranger office window. My wife and I looked in to staring there about 6 weeks ago and the park booked solid so we ended up taking a few 3 day trips to nearby Howard Miller Steelhead Park located in Rockport which is about 8 miles east of Concrete. I will post a review for Steelhead Park shortly.

I would recommend making reservations at Rasar which I believe we will do for the off season to insure we get the site we want which is one with electricity and water. You can walk to the river from Rasar but it's a bit of a hike. I fished the Skagit River last week while staying at Steelhead Park and caught some small whitefish. I spoke with a few others who caught some small trout as well. So you could take a trout rod and give that a try. Bring your waders. I forgot mine which limited by ability to cast my lures where the fish were believed to be holding. I believe steelhead fishing is open in parts of the Skagit River right now but I am not sure when that season ends and or exactly where it's open on the river but I believe it's open now where the Baker River runs in to the Skagit in Concrete. Anyway, Rasar State Park in very nice and for you and I, it's close to home which allows us to take a weekend trip in the off season without having to make reservations months in advance. Hope this helps.
