MarDon Resort in Othello, Here We Come!
OK, have reservations at MarDon Resort in Othello for Labor Day weekend. Although I have heard that the fishing is incredible when running from the resort, I am not familiar with the area. Also on Sunday I plan to trailer to the Columbia somewhere and fish Chinook. Any and all suggestions, tackle and technique recommendations for the resort and the Columbia will be appreciated.
BTW, they still have camping spots available… We could make it a WashingtonLakes camp/fish-a-thon!

You still have time to pick up a Fish-n-Map for Potholes/Moses Lake and you get Lake Sammamish on the opposite side as a bonus. Get them on-line or pick them up a ta local retailer like West Marine or Outdoor Emporium. What are you gunning for? This time of year the trout are soft and have that muddy taste to them. You should be able to pick up walleye jigging the deeper waters around the dam face and in Lind Coulee. Put on a wedding ring with worm or a small hotshot and troll it around to locate fish, you'll find that just about every species in the lake will take either of those rigs. Also, do a search in the forum as I know there were some great posts regarding the questions you asked. Also, be sure to try the dock at night!

Love that place, a few of us are planning on staying there for their annual Dock Tourney 3rd week in September. Make sure you ask about that when you go.rseas wrote:OK, have reservations at MarDon Resort in Othello for Labor Day weekend. All I know is bass. Smallies on the face of the dam with cranks. Over around goose island try some top water in the morning. From the state park down to the mouth of the creek around the willows. You don`t have to go far from mardon to catch some decent fish. If you venture into the dunes make sure you have a gps. Also talk to the guy`s at the store when you get there and they will set you staight.

RSeas,
So I just checked the water level
I've been going there since I was very little,
The level it is at right now makes for good "Catching"
Spots to check out...
Goose Island: Should be hot with grubs and cranks for walleye and smallies
(If you have a depthfinder, throw a deep diving crank everywhere around Goose Island you'll Figure out what/where to do really quick)
Dam: Grubs dark colors w/ bright shiny flakes
Lind Coulee: Dropshotting the initial to the 2nd shelf will produce perch, smallies and walleye most of the time.
If you want trout, there is a sand bar that extends out on your left hand side as your coming in from the main lake that has a VERY steep dropoff, trout hang off of that point most of the time.
Dunes: You can catch anything and everything there. grubs/jigbaits, dropshotting, topwater, lippless cranks and beating the bottom w/ cranks work very good there
Crab Creek & Medicare: Carolina rigs w/ anything normally produce good there and cranks along Medicare Beach
Hope that helps,
Im headed there Tuesday, let me know how it goes!

Fishing for Chinook below Wanapum Dam at the mouth of Crab creek should still be good. I fish that area almost exclusively using Brads cut plug super baits in verious colors and usually do pretty well. The boat launch is on the downstream side of the dam and it will test your trailer backing ability. (Long, narrow and steep with concrete abutments on both sides) but it’s doable. Good luck!rseas wrote:Also on Sunday I plan to trailer to the Columbia somewhere and fish Chinook. Bragging may not bring happiness, but no man having caught a large fish goes home through an alley.

In advance of our trip I wanted to thank everybody for their input. I’ll keep some sort of log and post a report when we return home. Hey, maybe I’ll be looking for walleye recipes! Be safe and have a great holiday weekend.

Good Luck Rseas!
I know Walleye is still on my gotta catch one list, so I am envious... My weekend plan is Honey-do's!
