.
The Sea-Tac Chapter would like to invite you all to come to our next meeting, Tuesday October 5th, at the IBEW Hall in Kent.
We are excited about our presenter , Mr. Dennis Clark, who works for the Water Resource Inventory Area (WRIA) 9 partnership of 17 local governments working together on salmon habitat conservation and restoration in southern King County. Mr. Clark is the project manager of the North Wind’s Weir Estuary Restoration: The Newest Major Salmon Habitat Project in South King County.
This year has seen the completion of the North Wind’s Weir estuary restoration in Tukwila http://www.govlink.org/watersheds/9/pla ... winds.aspx. This is the newest large salmon habitat project in the Green/Duwamish watershed in southern King County. This project has been the top priority for watershed salmon habitat recovery for many years and is now approaching completion.
This presentation will show you the project from start to (almost) finish using a time lapse series of photos. Learn why this project is so important to Green River Chinook populations. Find out what other fish in what numbers already are making use of the project.
Complementing the focus on North Wind’s Weir will be an overview of the larger context of watershed salmon habitat recovery in the Green/Duwamish and Central Puget Sound Watershed http://www.govlink.org/watersheds/9/default.aspx, which in turn is a component of the Puget Sound Action Agenda.
If this presentation and volunteering for habitat restoration interests you, you’ll find out about the opportunity to volunteer for Duwamish Alive! series of stewardship events one of which is Saturday, October 9th.
Please come and learn about this great project and hear what has been happening with CCA Washington.
Thanks
Shawn
