UFC 100

Post by Dave » Sun Jul 12, 2009 5:34 pm

For me personally, UFC 100 was well worth the 44.95 I paid to watch it on pay per view last night. Just curious what you all thought of the three main fights. Personally all three went as I had hoped. I loved seeing Dan Henderson KO Michael Bisbing who is a cocky trash talker extraordinaire. I also loved watching GSP dominate Thiago Alves who is a great up and comer. But I also loved watching Brock Lesner take care of business with Frank Mir who like Bisbing is also a trash talker and way too cocky for me. Lesner wasted no time taking frank down and keeping him down as he repeatedly struck him in the face with his trademark "lunchbox" fists as Joe Rogan calls them. Anyway, I thought I'd mention the fights and how much I enjoyed them.

GSP was great, Hendo even better, Brock can kiss me arse.

Ill hand it to him, he won, not taking that away from him, but did he do anything besides show his strength and that he is huge? He showed almost no skill as far as I could see. Mir can talk trash cuz he is that good, I think anyways. All Brock's stupid antics shows exactly what he is, a big strong brute with not much skill. Unfortunately there isnt much talent in the UFC heavyweights, although now that Mirko should be coming back, I hope he gets a title fight and kicks Brock in his face. I was going for Mir, but knew Lesnar would just overpower him, oh well, another mammoth in the game.

Congrats to both Dan and GSP. As far as Lesner goes, well what can you say? The guy is a beast. It's gonna take someone with good stand up and ability to avoid take downs to handle him. I'm not a fan of his but you have to respect his size and his wrestling background. He had Mir by what almost 100 lbs?

I was happy to see Dan win. Going into his final years in this sport, he has always been a well respected fighter. GSP = LB for LB may be the best fighter out there. Silva could give him a run for his money for that distinction though.

Your right Dave, the $45.00 bucks is worth it when the card is stacked like that and all the fights end up being pretty exciting to watch.

I think Lesnar was over Mir by only like 30 pounds, not too much i suppose.

Hi Guys,

Great to hear what everyone is thinking out there and as always, I respect all of your individual insight and opinions in the forums and about these fighters. Personally I thought Lesner showed “some” ground skills by keeping a very talented Mir on his back which for most is very difficult to accomplish. I also recognize that Lesner is huge but as mentioned by SONN is not much heavier than Mir, but definitely physically built differently which is without question to Lesner's advantage. I believe that Lesner is also a respected Olympic wrestler which I am guessing didn't come without deep desire, determination, and hard work and I have a difficult time holding his size against him. I wish I was built like Lesner. I think his reaction after the fight was a bit "big time wrestling" like, but I also understand the human emotion side of it, which was likely sparked by Mir's mouth.

I like and very much respect guys like GSP, Dan Henderson, and Randy Couture, who are very professional and rarely to never talk trash. I think that trash talking is basically unattractive and a direct reflection of the talker's own insecurities and ego. Just my opinion. Bottom line, UFC 100 was great entertainment and my wife and I loved every second of it. I also loved having our newly added DVR and HD which allowed us to record the fights and see them on our 65 inch Toshiba wide screen in crystal clear color.

What I haven't mentioned is that these fighters inspire and motivate me to continue to train hard and continue to lose weight. Their amazing training regiment and discipline reminds me that if they can train so hard physically for hours on end most days of the week, then I can train for an hour every day of the week which is directly related to my huge weight loss success and overall fitness. For that I appreciate them all.

Dave

On a side note; I wanted to thank Marc Martyn for all his hard work. Marc, you are an asset to the site and your efforts are very much appreciated.

I though Lesnar, for his size, fought great! Being that big, he's just not going to have the finesse like the small fighters under his weight class....What I thought was uncalled for were his antics after the match...that was just B.S.
