Carb, shrimp & salmon bait: Herring and sardines

Ive been gettign sick of the crazy herring prices for bait trays, so ive been buying case lots of herrign and sardines, these aver bigger than the bait trays but work just as good and makes for killer crab and shrimp bait when ground up. I usually plug cut the herrign to fish it but it beating payin 7$ a dozen for the little guys.
Herring- 4.5ozaverage 50# frozen box 75$
Sardines- about 6oz average 50# box 75$
sometimes mackerel & anchovies are is avaliable in smaller lots $2.50 per lb
