15 Calls Today!

Post by Marc Martyn » Tue Nov 02, 2010 7:31 pm

I got home tonight to find 15 calls today on my caller ID from the NRC, all from San Antonio, TX., all the same number.

Maybe the first order of business in Congress should be to outlaw robo-calls.

I second that. Get rid of telemarketers and bill colectors all together. If your job is to call people and bug them for a living you should be ashamed of yourselfs. Walk downtown seattle turn down one of the piers and keep on walking. Dont mind the edge your getting close to just walk faster if it makes ya feel better. I know it would me. Ty for allowing my rant of the week.

I have fun with telemarketers and the gop phone callers. I get them to hang up on me.I ask rude questions and personal ones. If they disturb me at dinner then I make it my entertainment.

Last Thursday I unplugged all my land line phones. After nearly 3 weeks of political calls from all over the country I'd had enough. I figure that my friends and family have my cell phone number and can call me on the cell. If any political action callers or telemarketers get my cell number and start calling I'll track them down, tie them up, put headphones on them, and play sales pitches and political attack/get out the vote messages, and dialing for dollars charities until the perp is a blubbering hunk of goo.

I recently updated my listing on the do not call list. The problem is that campaigning and fund raising is exempt from this. You still get the fund raisers for fire, police, charities and yes, politicians.

Ha! Right after we bought our last house a couple years ago I got a call from a salesman from Brinks Home Security. Told him I wasn't interested - he kept talking, again "not interested" he talked more urgently. Finally I said "Look dude, you need your ears cleaned, I'M NOT INTERESTED!" That set the guy off, started yelling at me, even threatened to break into my house since he had the address and knew I didn't have a security system. So I changed my tune and acted VERY interested until I could get the S.O.B's name. As soon as I had that I hung up on him, called BRINKs, the BBB, and filed a police report.
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

When the telemarketers call, I put on my best redneck voice (which is pretty darn good I might add) and tell 'em that he sounds like he got a purdy mouth. "You ought not to talk that way, hmm hhmm." I tell 'im I'm lookin at dem perners wishin it was his hand I's's holin', yessir.

It's a hoot and a half. I have a make believe wife named Maude that sometimes needs to get handcuffed to the sink, on account of she aint been makin sangwittches as efficient as she used to. If it's comcast or dish network I make 'em read out loud to me the names off all the dirty movies they got on that skinemax channel while I laugh leacherously until maude tells me I'm not aloud anymore pay per viewin' after the last time I got cable and didn't take out the trash fer six weeks (I do Maudes voice in the background). Hehehe. It's priceless, they can't be rude and they have to tolerate it as long as they can, cuz if they don't, you ask fer their supervisor and complain formally and they have to deal wth that. Makin their lives hell on account of they wouldn't stop pesterin all of us. I love talkin to the GOP and the DEMS, they have some of the most ridiculous reactions to the far right/far left positions that I adopt.

Here's a sure fire way to get rid of telemarketers and charity beggars. Let them get started on their sales pitch, interrupt them and tell them that you are interested but have been unemployed for the past 2 years. They mumble they are sorry to hear that and immediately hang up.

I just tell em " I don't care what you're selling, just talk dirty to me " and the conversation ends on their end unless its jens.:-"

Other than those agencies which are exempted, we don't get telemarketer calls. And if we do, the first thing they hear is they're violating the national do not call registry rules and we're recording the call - click. [lol]

I get one about every month that I really don't mind. They keep calling back and each time I am polite to them, because they are polite to me and not pushy. It is from the Arc of Spokane telling me they will have a truck in my neighbor and ask it there is anything we would like to donate. I tell them not at this time and they say thank you and hang up.

I love this thread, and that is why I got rid of my "land line" and my wife and I use cell phones only.

No telemarketers, no robocalls, just friends, family, and clients.

I really hate to be a pessimist, but I'm sure they will find out a way to get those numbers also. At the turn of the century, door to door salesman found a way to get your telephone number.#-o

Im a Collections Manager for my mothers collections firm here in bellevue, wa !
Please feel free to pm me if you would like a better understanding of how our company prevents job loss ,prevents wage reductions , prevents company downsizing due to outstanding debts on companies books , etc .

when people dont pay there debts everything listed above is how it impacts those companies in the long run . So as "annoying" as it may be that we have to demand $ from debtors , consider agencies like our as "heros of society" for doing the dirty work on other companies behalf .

Secondly its also important you know that bad debt from most companies only repersents less than 15% of there , the accounts receivable the other 85% are the people who do in fact pay on time and or when they agreed to pay .

In summary , NO !!! Im not ashamed of the services we provide if anything the people that owe $ should take a good look in mirror and remind themselves that the only bad person involved is most likey the person who lie about there initial intentions to begin with.
Be thankful that your being contacted by a collections agency because the truth of matter is that you could have just been flat out sued and had your wages garnished. [flapper]

Im free to have an oppinion as well as you are to yours. I dont like and will never like being interupted for a reason that is of no importance to me. I dont care if your van is in my neighborhood. I really could care less about the knife set youll give me for just sitting through your damn seminar. I dont wanna have you come by and show me your newest edition to the kirby line up. I hate the damn mexican people calling me for pablo hectar emanuelle rodriguez. This is not his darn number any more people. My choice was to not have a land line for these reasons. SO they call my cell now instead. This is why I feel the way I do. I go off the grid and they still find a way to get to me. Its not you personally Dez I just hate people that make a living outta the misery of others. Really thats how my feelings are. My best man was a telemarketer I told him the same thing.
