I did read the thread. Your asking if it may be a Sockeye. Are you allowed to keep Sockeye where your fishing too? If it's not a hen, then it's one strange lookin' buck. Good luck out there!

my same thought. The lack of purple bars is most likely due to lack of ever being in salt water.

I like G-Man's thought. Jack male chum. (? LOL)

Sorry pilchuck I did not mean to seem angry, yeah it is legal to keep 3 salmon native or not where I was fishing, as long as they were not kings.

Goodtimesfishing already ate it:colors: it seemed fine inside and everything I hope so lol. But even if it were a chum that never hit salt it would still change colors just as kokanee do and they never leave fresh water.

Gman If there Is one thing I think it could be other than a sockeye is a Dog. While I still think it is a sockeye It could be a dog. but the lack of stripes and the black fins makes me think it could be something else...

Maybe it is just a mystery fish? I froze the head maybe I should take it somwhere.....

I don't buy the sockeye id as there is no red anywhere on the fish, even the flesh is a light orange color.

I dont belive its a sockeye IMO.

Look at this link, it has the body shape of pinks.
http://washingtonlakes.com/forum/yaf_po ... almon.aspx

Then again, it has colors close to a spawning chum...

~Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.

It is not a pink for sure. Pinks have spots on the tail and the back. It is a jack chum. Ive never seen a jack chum but there is jacks in all the other classes of salmon. Gotta be a jack chum somewhere.
More fish please!

How about this pic crankbait to back up the chumly guessers (look at bottom fish of course):

May have to copy and paste the address into address bar to see the pic.
Oops, just saw it was listed as female... So much for that.

This would be a really good thread to put on the Fish ID board.

LOL good point.

I think I finally figured it out.

It IS a female chum.

HOWEVER, it underwent a sex change early on so ended up with milt sacs instead of skeins#-o [flapper]

The first two fish are Chums but the bottom fish is a male Humpy.

I think the fish Crankbait caught is definitely a sockeye tho.

Ya you're right Cohoking, the caption mentioned the bottom was female chum but I now see that was referring to the 2nd fish and not 3rd (3rd they listed as female pink). Guess the mystery continues. Had crankbait's fish been female though I'd say it looks a lot like the bottom fish in that pic (enough to be one).

man I need to go fishing and quit looking at fishing pics at work.:pale:

I disagree...it had no spots on the back and pinks do...
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

It's a thought, I've seen lots of them but the small pink scales seem to be a dominant trait of the Chumpy.

Real tells would be scale pattern, lips and teeth and mouth shape and the tail shape. It looks rather PS native coho. Many of them have no spots what so ever.

Other than that, I didn't see the fish in person, only poorly lit photos. I can pass no judgement.

Yeah bodo, you're right. The tell tale sign of a chumpy is usually in the sale patterning. I caught one fishing commercially in AK back when I was 16 on a Troller and brought it aboard because I couldn't properly ID it, my captain told me what it was and it made sense. Eyes and tail of a chum with the scales and mouth of a humpy.
