Just got back from tokul, maaaaaaaaan the snoq has taken a beating! It should be in shape in the next day or so though. Tokul was a lot of fun, it takes some real skill to land a fish in that beast! A little hookin up happening, but I only saw one fish to the bank and he was hooked in the gill. I had one on behind the stump pile for a while, but with absolutely no room to play it was 80/20 that I'd lo9se him, and I did. It was a biggun though, I'd pull it up off the bottom, he'd go right back down, I thought if I just gently did that for l;ong enough he'd give up eventually, and that would've happened, had I not slipped in the mud and sent a giant slough of rocks right on top of him that freaked his big self out and he started thrashing and running wrapped around a stick and came undone.

nice fish. I got a boot steelie outta tokul creek yesterday, also went back in the drink, but not comin back bigger :) I saw a beautiful fish taken at the eddy, probably pushing 15 and dime bright, mine was 10 - 13 and still a lotta fun. If you can find a spott that works for high water up north, I dunno, they said it's gonna flood again.

tokul closes Feb 28th, as far as I know. Unless they emergency close it, which I doubt, only hatchery fish up there and they don't want those in the water breeding.

Yea, I'm with Matt on this one. I've got my freezer full of tasty steel meat, and roe to use on springers.

I was out at reiter today, it was nice. cookies cutters and jacks. I lost a big one due to cheap hooks :( started fighting, shot my line right back at me. Another valuable lesson learned by me. Don't skimp where it counts.

I hear ya there nate, I hate dropping the cash for High quality gear but I always think to my self, "is saving money worth losing the fish of a lifetime?" It could happen at anytime and I want to be ready for it.
