Spell Check and Grammar Check (did I spell that right?)
I typed this sentence in Microsoft Outlook in response to some work I did. It underlined the word in blue suggesting a grammar error. So I clicked on it to see what is was talking about and this is what it suggested. I'm not the best speller and my grammar could use some work but...
MY SENTENCE: I’m available most of the morning if you need any more help or if something isn’t working right.
THE SUGGESTED CORRECTION: I’m available most of the morning if you need any more help or if something AREN'T working right.

Go with what your middle school taught you. It sounds like the designer of the software didn't get that far in his education.

Probably from the same country that all the internet and e-mail scams come from.Marc Martyn wrote:Go with what your middle school taught you. It sounds like the designer of the software didn't get that far in his education.

shouldn't it be "somthings aren't working right"?
"ain't" - that's funny
"ain't" - that's funny

I know you are having fun with it, but try this. Leave out the contractions and substitute the word “correctly” for the word “right.” The American version of the English language is a total mess and I don't think a software program can be written that will comprehend all the weird grammar and different word meanings that crop up in everyday conversation.

[lol]
I like aint too.
If something like that doesn't work or sound right, I always flip flop the sentence. Something like - "If something is not working right or you need any help, I will be available for most of the morning."

It has been said that the English language is one of the most difficult languages to learn because of this. I guess that may be because we have been a melting pot of cultures for centuries.G-Man wrote:I know you are having fun with it, but try this. My wife is a career educator and cringes when she hears a new broadcaster say, "A water main busted in the downtown area."[laugh]
