Chums In two weeks?

Post by driftercn83 » Thu Nov 03, 2011 8:32 am

Does any one know what the creeks are gonna be like in two weeks I moved to Pittsburgh but am coming back from the 17th to the 20th and I cant remember how long the southern sound chum run lasts I dont remember when I started heading out. basically the kennedy minter creek and chambers creek areas. I know that last i went it went was back in the fall of 2008 and I went every weekend up until the first week of dec and there where always fish. I have this new ultra light salmon steel head rod I want to test on some big brutes and I figure the chum would give me a good run for my money.

The chum have just now started showing up in Kennedy Creek. I was down there a while ago and they hadn't come up in full force yet. The Skok has been getting some as well. I used my ultra light on the chum the other day and man, it was a struggle. There were times when I couldn't even get the fish to move off of its spot. It was like pulling against a log that doesn't move. I had to switch to heavier gear.

I've been hearing there are "thousands" of chums in Hood Canal. People having 40 fish days? My question is are they fishing near the hatchery at Hoods port? Is there a creek or what? ooops, that was two questions. I've never tried there, and it sounds fun although I'm sure it's combat on the weekends.I have successfully drift fished for them on the Stilly and have pounded them with bobbers and jigs on the Sky.Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

hood sport and the hood canal area will be a little better in the upcoming days, one of the commercial fishing seiners dropped their net in front of a submarine so the next couple openers are closed for seining in the hood canal area, most of the seining is going on in area 9. The last opener was Monday and the next is monday so the fish should have a open shot for a week and over a week in the hood canal area so fishing should be be above average. Just a little tid bit I learned today
