Top 100 Bass Lakes. CDA at #9!

Post by Mark K » Wed Apr 25, 2012 6:07 pm

Here is a link to a story on the top 100 Bass lakes done by Bassmaster magazine. Just an intriguing note, Every northern body of water in the top 20 contain Pike EXCEPT the Columbia river @ #20. Also making the list from the NW are

45 Umpqua River, Oregon

65. Noxon Rapids, Montana (Great Pike water)

85. Dworshak Reservoir, Idaho (Pike Water maybe. Fish n Fools gonna check it out for me)

91. Lake Sammamish, Washington

95. Fort Peck Reservoir, Montana (Pike Water)

Ya, not EVEN close. Potholes, Banks, Roosevelt, Watcom, MANY others in THIS state are SO much better than Sammy. Makes you wonder who it was that 'voted/decided' what waters were worthy of even being CLOSE to 100 for that list. They sure don't know THIS state and it's lakes. I've been fishing Sammamish since '88 and it's worse now than it was just 10 years ago.

Maybe the bass anglers from washingtonlakes.com could come up with a very good list of the top 100 bass lakes in Washington. Amx gives a start with Potholes, Banks Roosevelt Whatcom - and we could add other gems like Washington, Osoyoos, Palmer, Umatilla, Scootnery, Moses, Terrell, Goodwin and some local lakes like Kitsap, Mason & Long, etc.

Yes, Scootney was an awesome lake the one time I fished it in the early '90s. Even some of the Columbia River pools are awesome.

Makes one wonder what happened to Bass Master Mag.
Reamember back when Potholes, Moses and Banks were all mentioned in polls like this?

I can't believe some idiot put CDA at #9 It's not even at #9 in the state let alone the country unless you count the Chain lakes as part of it. The Chain lakes is the only good bass fishing on it IMHO.
My vote for the best bass lake in Idaho would be Hayden for a larger lake, but I know of a small secret lake that blows them all away.
As for Best lake in Wash, I would have to go with Banks, but I have heard that Twin lakes up near Inchelium is great too but I have never fished it.
If Dworshak has Pike in it that's news to me ??????? now CDA most defiantly has Pike in it

Could be bad info. I've never fished there so I can't confirm it. Looking online I foud 2 places that said yes. One of the was on a report done by Nez Perce Dept of Fisheries Resource management. It was way back in 1988 though. Go out and fish it and let me know if you catch any. [thumbsup]
