Silvers in the River

Hey guys I'm pretty new to salmon fishing and was wondering how much longer will the Coho run in the rivers? I would really like some input on the Silvers in the Snohomish river? Thanks in advance for the input fellas!!!!

Mallard will know more, but from what I hear the majority are still in the salt, so I'd say you got atleast another full month. I know there is always a late push in December up the Sky, atleast from the the locals tell me out there...

Thanks Sam that is good news. There are quite a bit in there now. The Snoho was boiling on Tuesday right before I left. Also does anyone have any tips on what they are using? I have caught a few but it seems like it is hit or miss. Come on Mallard hook up the info!

Mallard said 50/50 dick nites are the ticket right now. I know of a few other techniques, a few of which I can't mention and you need a boat anyways, but I do know that Blue Fox or Rvrfshr spoons are also a solid bet as well as green mini hootchie jigs will also do the job...

Hey Sam thanks again. Thought you might say some of those lure choices. That is what I have been using and had decent luck. I got the one pictured in my report on a Blue Fox. Just wanted to see what others have had success with. I have tried green hoochies and no succes. Does the color of the jig head make a difference? Also when using a dick nite does the length of the leader make a difference. What about retrival speed? Can you send me a PM with the unmentionable techniques?

When I was fishing for pinks it didn't matter what the jighead color was. I used unpainted lead jigs, black headed jigs, green headed jigs, all about the same results. I'd match the jighead color with the hootchie color to be safe though.

The length of the leader doesn't matter too much, I used a 3 to 4 foot leader. Speed: slow so the dick nite is working just off the bottom. The spoon also needs some action, so just a slow reel.

Sorry for the late response, it's been a couple of weeks since I have been on the web.

The Silver run in the Snohomish System usually starts to die off around mid November when the Chums start to show. However the Silvers in this system do show themselves sometimes until mid to even late January, but few in numbers by this point.

And in general the best all around lure for Silvers is a 50/50 Dick Nite in the Wee size.

hey i just bought a bunch of dick nites in 50/50 but they are like the biggest size they had which is still only an inch or an inch and a half so will they still produce if there not wee size, and i cant wait to catch some chums, what do you think will work best for them?

All the silvers i've caught this year have been in the green river (aside from a few undersized ones in the salt). I'm only catching maybe 2-3 a week, but catching is better then getting skunked everytime. (my buddy has gone with me half the time since humpies showed up and hasnt caught one yet this season.)

If you want the big silvers you gotta hit up the Stillaguamish river, But the water is too high now (No visibility). But I caught 6 this year all over 10 pounds. .

Hey nice fish Jake! I am not originally from WA so I don't know much about the Stilly. Do you have any advice on places to go? What you are using? If you don't want to give up your spot or what you are using maybe you can PM with some info. I've been fishing the Snohomish and all the fish i saw this week were dark. Also they were not biting either. Thanks in advance, look froward to hearing from you Jake or anyone else that may have info that will help me get into some silvers before the year is up!
