Re: Is high-vis line okay for steelhead/humpies?
it is okay for anything as long as you have a mono/flouro leader.
Re: Is high-vis line okay for steelhead/humpies?
Almost all the guide boats use hi-vis mainline. I am not a fan of flourocarbon at all, I use maxima ultragreen for leaders.

As far as Humpies go, I don't think it'd matter much if you used hi-vis right to the lure...
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

you could probably just have hi viz pink line straight to a bare pink hook evenGringo Pescador wrote:As far as Humpies go, I don't think it'd matter much if you used hi-vis right to the lure...

there you go oneshot...use maxima pink up to a pink hook. I have only seen pink maxima in a few places not easy to find.

Ha, then just find a river with no multiple hook restriction and tie about 5 at about 12" apart each with a jig a the end. Cast it out and jig it back. why do you need a rod or line, just spray paint a net pink you will have pinks splashing by the dozens in mere minutes, I learned it on the skagit.
Re: Is high-vis line okay for steelhead/humpies?
I'll say what I just said in the other topic. High vis isn't worth it. These fish are line shy, and if you really don't need it, don't bother, because if they can see it, they'll avoid it. The last thing you want is fish running away from your line instead of towards it. My 2 cents at least. I know plenty of guys that swear by it, and a lot of those guys stand next to me while I'm throwing 6 pound test, and wonder why I hook 5 fish and they go home skunked. Go as light as you can get away with, and get a long rod with the bend in it to throw the light gear.

Yeah I agree, going as light and clear as possible will result in more hook ups. My friend uses 8lb test for everything including kings, chums and silvers and catches a lot of fish.
