Most likely. In my opinion, big trade off for having one near.

Ya that is sort of the problem. Paying another 8 percent doesn't seem worth it. Especially for those that live too far away to make a trip to Lacey to buy gear that is probably already a bit overpriced. That will really bite if we do have to pay tax online.

I have never met a fish yet that respected a big purchase. You can own a $100 boat or you can own a $30,000 boat. You might be more comfortable, but don't expect any fish to care about your investment.

I still support local tackle stores. They can't provide you the best prices on EVERYTHING, but they have the knowledge to beat out any of the sporting good stores/warehouse stores. Small tackle shops know what works, where to go, cause those guys fish in all the spots themselves and have been doing it all there life, and decide to make a profession out of it. Anyways, I'll have to make a run to Cabelas for a daytrip. I hope I don't spend too much there...

Sam,
You brought up a very good point. I was in Sportsman's Warehouse the other day and an employee looked in my basket and said "you fishing for salmon because those corkies do the trick." I told him I was buying a few to tie up some spinner rigs for Walleye. He laughed and said there are no walleye in this state. He went on as to say thats why they don't supply walleye fishing gear because there are no walleye. The funny thing is he said that right in front of an entire rack that said "Walleye Spinners."

However, for those of us on budgets, I go where the best price is. I will figure out the lakes on my own if that is what it takes. I would love to support local businesses, but in the end I have to do what is best for my financial situation and being military, I am not a rich man. I used to go to Hook Line and Sinker all the time in Arlington, WA but after a while they really didnt know where to fish unless it was Trout or Salmon. That's easy, just follow the 500,000 boats. On the other hand, when I get a ton of advice to fish a huge lake like Banks like I have at Big Wally's in Coulee City, I have no problem laying down the extra bucks for the equipment they have there.

Sorry Joe, I found this on their website regarding the sales tax:

Sales Tax is charged on mail, internet, and telephone orders for deliveries in Nebraska, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Illinois and Minnesota.

In addition, all orders shipped from a Cabela's Retail store to a state in which there is a Cabela's Retail store present, will be charged the applicable sales tax of that state.

correct me if i am mistaken, but there is no tax if you order from either the master catalog or the internet. these come straight out of their main warehouses and not their retail stores. Difference is you have to pay shipping and handling. Your guess as to what costs more

He meant BPS, took 3 hours to get in on opening day. Lines were longer than Space Mountain at Disneyland.

Marc,
I'll be there around 4:00PM on the 9th. How about you? I'll also be there around 4:00PM on the 7th, by special invitation. How about you? I'd love to tie up with you.

Joe-
I would like very much to meet up with you over there. Although I have been ordering from Cabela's for the past 30+ years, I don't have their Visa card, thus didn't get invited for the preopening.:-s  I am just not sure yet what my schedule will be like either of those days. I'll know better in about a week. My schedule is dependent on when my subs can get in and do their thing before I can continue.
I was kind of planning on eating in their restaurant while over there. How does a Bison Bratwurst, safari salad and to top it all off, cheese cake sound to you. I LOVE Buffalo=p~

Hahaha that's a good story. Your right though, when I know exactly what I need, the cheapest store is where I'm headed to. But when I got questions or need some good customer service, it's right to the local shops. Joes still gets most of my fishing shopping business, they got a good selection, have good prices, and now they got one 10 mins away from my house...

Just got off the phone with them and they said that sales tax will be added to all orders if there is a store in your state. However, they will ship from the main warehouse to your local store where you can pick it up without paying any shipping. We will find out for sure in the next couple of weeks.
We on the eastside do have an advantage (not often) over you on the westside. Idaho's sales tax is less than Washington's.

Sounds great to me Marc. I described your culinary delight to my wife and actually started drooling. LOL

I got a Cabelas Visa card so I could get $20 off of my GPS. I have no intentions of being anywhere near Cabelas on opening day but I have to wonder why I didn't receive a private invitation as people are talking about. It sounds like I should have gotten one. If I do get one, I will put it up on classifieds. It will be free, including shipping and handling.

That's a generous offer Joe, but the invitation I got says you also have to show your credit card. ](*,)

the lazer arcade's are a pheasant hunting and deer hunting arcade's. great practice for bird hunting. i sat in one n the midwest for 3 hours just playing the pheasant arcade. very real-like! and as far as price, ive seen only bass pro shop and yamamoto's that have comparable pricing. we all know walmart is the cheapest, but, cabela's will have hard-to-find stuff in stock all the time, and you can order from there main warehouse and pick-up here, at no sales tax/shipping. but im with heater, nowhere near on opening day!!!!
