Last year my reports were about catching pretty much all hen pinks, on Dicknites. Maybe hooked 10 buck pinks all together last year. Every silver I caught last year, came on the 50/50 Dicknite which were all bucks. Tried drifting eggs last year, but couldn't get them to bite. I started getting more serious about bobber fishing this year, after slaying the kings on the Skok.

The two smaller ones, were the size of pinks, and the larger one I'd say around 6 lbs before I gutted it. It had pretty developed skeins, for a fresh fish. The fish were biting on both sides of the tide. When I left around noon, my friend was still getting bites, and he was fishing a pink jig under a float.

losaturn- my mistake. It may have been kzoo. Either way though good to see your success! Sounds like Gringo Pescador was able to connect too.

Argh! Day of frustration for me. Tried to get my dad on some at 112th, but spent the majority of the the time re-tying rigs due to snags. My dad is not an experienced drift fisherman. Had a couple of hits, but nothing sticking. Lost a couple dick nites and about a pack of hooks/leaders between my dad and I. Seal pup came and hung out next to me on shore for a bit. Cute, but sure wish he wasn't there.
Did manage to get snagged on some heavy duty mono. Probably 25# test. was able to get it in close enough to shore to grab hold. My 8# leader would not have stood up to that. I managed to unsnag it and pulled up a bright shiny silver buzzbomb complete with treble hook and about 25 yards of line. Nice that someone left all their snagging gear behind for me to find.

I Know what you mean BentRod, I had no luck either.

Look at it this way though, you snagged someone else's gear that they were probabaly useing to ileagaly harvest salmon and now you can go back there with that gear and snag some more extra gear off the bottom. If you fid any of the gear I lost you can use it.

I'm going to do an islandbass this week on the way to work but not sure what day. Figure maybe 1/2 hour recon and pick up some litter if there is any.

Nice work losaturn. I wish I could produce. I hit up the lower Duamish this morning after sunrise for about an hour before work side drifting corkie and yarn. Nothing.

I managed a little coho hen on the first salmon trip of the year today so can't complain since it's probably been almost a year since wetting a line for salmon (oy I need to upgrade the gear and get the kinks out). Don't know if I'll get time tomorrow to put up a report but the fish was nothing special, in fact pretty small (maybe 3 1/2 pounds).

I tried an islandbass 25 minutes frenetic fishing pre-work workout. Spent half the time walking in and out and gutting the fish.

One big

that islandbass woul NOT be proud of, I ended up at work about a half hour early mistiming how long it would take to clean the fish and get out of there...

I missed out on a good 20 minutes of fishing LOL.

Nice job lately on the Duw coho.

Congrats on the first salmon of the year. That little one, was a 12 3/4" Jack Coho. He was gut hooked, even with a 1/0 hook.
Might have to go down there again tomorrow as well.

I'd be a little curious to see how fishing conditions change for you with the sliding of the tide timeframes each day and see if there might be any correlation if you are fishing at about the same time each day. Again, nice start to the Duw for you!

PS- also wondering if things might slow a bit later in the week with the nets in...

LOL a 13 inch fish on a 1/0. Darn 4 inch bullheads are prety good at taking down large hooks too. Trying my darnedest to get out today but pretty sure it won't happen. Good luck if you get (got?) out to try to go 4 for 4

I sure do miss working downtown.. not only was my commute better but i used to dash out at lunch to fish the Duwi..
working on the eastside is a drag!

And hear oneshot too! I was working weekend overtime this summer just before the Duw opened at a place RIGHT on the river thinking I had a sweet thing going for Fall but found out last weekend they hired on more help there in Tukwila so don't need me for OT any more (normally work Renton).

Losaturn- what kind of mainline and leader are you running typically with your bobber gear? I need to get more updated with gear but am a cheap bassturd (even use dyed turkey feathers for tying jig tails after running out of 25 year old marabou LOL).

OK time to eat lunch and get ready for work...

I'm running a bait casting set-up on a 10ft rod. 40# Hi-vis Power Pro mainline, and 1/0 Gamis on 20# Maxima Ultragreen 2ft leaders. I colored the bottom 10ft section of my Hi-vis braid with a black sharpie. Don't think the silvers are that line shy on the Duwi, but it made a difference on the skok.

ive noticed at least this year in the LOW water ive been fishing the coho ARE line shy, ive gone to 8 lb flouro, and its helped, also they wont bite past 9am for me either.... anybody else hoping for rain??
