I don't know if the video will come up so heres the address http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuseR1aYsDc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It sucks that they can pretty much do whatever they want and we pretty much have a brick wall in front of us.

Re: Indians Netting
How is that fishing? I really have to hold back and not use expletives as I know I will be deleted. But since when was it tradition to rape a river of fish. To simply scoop them up and then start beating the fish. Where is the heritage and worship of the river and all the BS that the Indians try and say they get to do this for. Where was there any "thanks" being given in that video? All I hear is "look at this massacre" followed by laughing. Completely disrespectful. I have seen hill billy rednecks give more appreciation to fishing than these jack wagons.
And the Indians wonder why there is conflict between them and the sportsman who actually "catch" their fish and don't just scoop them up with a net. Guess I just understand how something that happened over several hundred years ago I still have to pay for and these ****** get to pull this crap. I wasn't around then and you we around then. So let's all just move on and play fair where everyone has to play by the same rules.

Re: Indians Netting
I totally agree with you there man. Also in the video it looks like some of them that are scooping the fish are not even indians. Hopefuly some day(while i'm still alive and able to fish) everyone follows the same rules and who knows that maybe increase the salmon population. Cause if you think of it salmon have to survive huge obstacles. Commercial netting, Tribal nets , than we get a chance at them. AND if any problems come along, sportfisherman are slammed with more rules. Can't do this can't do that early closure can't fish here can't keep this. Geez i wonder why i even fish
Re: Indians Netting
Also i left out that commercial and tribal netting are regulated to but, honestly they still get to net salmon by thousands.
Re: Indians Netting
i am required to use a barbless hook but yet they can use a freaking net!?!?!?!?!!? give me a break!
and the fact that they CLOSE the river so the indians can net it just blows my mind.
here's an idea, if you dont want there to be any conflict, make everyone play by the same rules!!!!!

Re: Indians Netting
yeah, and what really gets me goin is when i see the indians throw away what they dont sell, random dead and rotting carcasses floatin by, we may have done the indians wrong in the past but thats nature, the stronger nation beats the weaker nation and does what it wants, yet here we are, waaaay later dealing with this "Bologna" they get land, state payments, casino rights, netting, river closing powers, too much, america mistreated alot of other cultural groups yet the natives are the only ones collecting, and collecting big too,
Re: Indians Netting
This is total BS, we all have to abide by the regs but these guys can do whatever they want? Ya sounds real fair to me... I stand on a river bank for hours to get my 2 fish or how ever many is the limit and they use a net and get 5 in one scoop. Sounds more like poaching then netting... They should have to FISH for their fish. I honestly dont care if they are indian or not, we should ALL play by the sportsman rules of fishing. A pole, a man and a fish. Simple as that, but someone decided it was ok for them to absolutley rape the rivers dry, cant begin to tell you how pissed I was after watching this video.
Rant over.
Rant over.

Dannyl - I removed your last sentence - I think you know why. If not, pm me and we can discuss.
I don't know this river - and i am not saying I like what I see in the video, but...
For all I know, there might not be a native run on the river and they might own the hatchery, which means those would be their fish and that means they can do what they want with them....

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

Re: Indians Netting
WTF guys? That's in B.C.. Pretty sure the Natives have similar fishing rights up there but, none the less it's in a different country. They have their own laws.

Re: Indians Netting
Back in the 70's and 80's I lived in Orting and avidly fished the Puyallup and Carbon rivers for steelhead. Back then I easily caught 30 or more steelhead in a winter. Infact back then those two rivers were considered some of the best steelheading in the state. But when the Bolt decision took effect allowing the indians to net, within a few short years the steelhead runs on those rivers were decimated. And now they are a whisp of a shadow of the rivers they once were. Just by shear numbers, salmon fishing can still be interesting. I wish I could still say the same for the steelhead. Sad.

thanks for posting that for me!! i didn't need to type what i was about to say..Bodofish wrote:WTF guys? That's in B.C.. Pretty sure the Natives have similar fishing rights up there but, none the less it's in a different country. They have their own laws.
x2
also note that the Indians fishing strategies are catered to catching a crap ton of fish to sell and help their economy. they are not going to make squat hook and line fishing..
not sure how many folks have been to real reservations? they are pretty poverty stricken, even the ones with HUGE Casinos..
and again...
Re: Indians Netting
Makes all Indians look bad on this video. glad it was posted
Re: Indians Netting
if theyre so poor they should get jobs, im pretty sure theres no discrimination holding them back, i see poor white people, poor black people, poor asians, and poor hispanics, the natives should just get jobs, instead of leeching the rivers and casinos
Re: Indians Netting
x10 to all of ur Posts.
Some people go to church or the temple or the mosque or where ever one practices religion and dream about being in their favorite fishing spot and others go fishing and see their god(s) reflected back at them in the amazing nature around them.
Re: Indians Netting
I do agree with the fact that if the Indians want there rights they need to hunt and fish the way they did back in the day and make there own equipment to do so. Arrows, bows, nets ect... The problem is the government has crippled this society by putting them on reservations and giving them money. If the government fit your bills would you work. Im not defending them or what they do. It pisses me off how they rape this land even in places were non indians cant go. Since its on a federal level we need our government to cut all ties and lets all be Americans. Im sick of this crap Im an African americn or Native american or Asian american. Either your an AMERICAN or not. Sorry about the rant we just need to fix our Government and get some people in there that care about this country so we can truly fix it instead of how much money they steal from the American people and put in our wallets.
