FINALLY landed my first winter run of 2012 this week on the Sky. This 6lb cookie cutter was caught on a rvrfshr 50/50 spoon. Only took about 5 trips, but oh-so worth it! Set a personal goal of 30 this season.... No where near FF's 200, but will be happy if I get close. Guess that means more fishing in the coming weeks. Good luck everyone and thanks for all the fish porn!

Today I caught this nice bright 12-13 pound native hen. Took me about ten minutes to get in because I was running 8 lb test. Those natives fight so hard!!! Besides FF I think I was the only one to catch a fish. The river is way to low and clear! I have the back end of the fish in the water. Hard to see from the picture.

goodtimesfishing wrote: Where did you fish last year in the skagit? Not real familiar with the good hole in the skagit around the cascade.
just the mouth of the cascade and the little eddy with spoons and spinners or plunking bait, that is where they will be in the low water and come up in the night. Those holes are super deep in skagit like 15-20+ft deep.
I have had success with dropper jigs and beads but it bit the bead though.

I fished below concrete with my dad in the sled today. Couldn't touch anything but one dolly. was still nice to fish the river, saw a herd of elk with a good sized bull mixed in, lots of bald eagles. Had the depth sounder on, one of the holes was 36ft deep....wow.

funny thing is that it should not be a slow period every river in washington should have runs of steelhead swarming in right now but it is just not happening, hopefully the run comes in this next week at the cascade even though it is running in the 200s now ](*,)

Dude. Its january. Peak cascade time is thanksgiving. They... Arent... Coming! Numbers over bonneville dam were 140,000 less steelhead than the 10 yr average. The steelhead runs are small. Bottomline
