Out of all the people today only one other person hit fish and that was way down river, and he got 2 in I think he said 4-5 casts(lots of people around him with no luck!). They where small but he got a limit when everyone else got skunked! No other bobber downs, no other action of any sort for anyone around. Caught her just as it got light out. Fished till noon. What a great way to end the year!!!! Checked to see if eggs where ready so I could take them to the hatchery but appeared to not be ripe yet. When opened the eggs spilled everywhere. Damm what a waste of a s*** load of eggs!!! Surprised to see loose eggs in such a bright fish.
I hooked 3 that day at dusk crackered them all off too, all the fish we got were spawners too I got a nice 9lb hen and she was spilling too.
I was 2 for 5 and my dad was 3 for 3 in 3 1/2 days of fishing on the cascade plus a huge 26+ inch dolly that had a sucker or a white fish in its mouth when I landed it, bet it did some damage on the smolts and eggs, looked like its gone to hell and back with an injured eye, missing part of its lip and tathered fins.

I had been being told the bite was better late afternoon. If you are losing that many fish, might want to check into mustad 32833 hooks and make your own jigs.WAY better then the store bought. Fishing buddy started off the season losing his first 3 fish with store bought (quality store bought not cheap jit) I was not losing any and he started using my jigs and he has never used another store bought since and has not been losing hooked fish.

We didn't get to the river til almost 11am and so people had already left, maybe 8 cars at the red gate and about 5 cars at the blue gate in the lower fields.

alright thanks bet the corner hole should be producing fish right now too as well as the plunkers.
Good times they were snapping my 6lb test at the jig because I had way too tight of a drag and they ran for the logs and the other one just spit the hook in mid air, the hooks were maxi jigs and aero jigs but I lost a really nice nightmare jig that a guide gave to me at the cowlitz I want to say it was jared cady for giving him a ride from blue ck to barrier. The jig was super sweet, wish he sold them, looked amazing under water.
Yeah with the sun we would fish the first 3 hours of day light then the last 3 hours, Also plunked the eddy and got a couple of bites but no hook ups.
