You know I just realized that I had no idea what # I should put on my new setups for trolling. On my other two non downrigger salmon poles I was running 50# spider wire cause I got it 2 for 1 at the time.
I think on these I wanna run mono main line, and probablly P-Line, unless someone has a better Idea, P-Line has done me really well in the lighter tests.
I have a role of 20# here at the house. I want to run Mono because of braid slipping through the scotty DR clips. Again unless someone has a good piece of advice.
These are going to be used for everything from Pinks to Kings on the Scotties.
Thanks!

Either 25 lb. Ande or trilene big game. Can't go wrong with either of those, and they are very affordable lines.

I prefer #20 Berkley XT for non dr. Otherwise I use 17. Biggest was 35lb chinook, let them tire out.
Re: Main Line for Salmon trolling rods
25lb ande on all my salmon trolling rods, whether downrigger or not. never broke a mainline on a fish or seal. I use 20lb test ande leader.
Re: Main Line for Salmon trolling rods
I run either 30lb braid with a 30' top shot of 25lb Maxima Ultragreen or straight 50lb braid. The spiderwire is a bit slick for most downrigger clips but the Tuf-line XP and Power Pro both hold just fine. If you ever run into slippage problems with braid, just double up the line and twist about 10 times, then take the twisted section and put that in the clip.
