So heres a question for you pink lovers, do you go with heavy, medium, or light action rods? Do you hook and horse or do you go light and have some fun?

I use a 7' 6" light spinning rod with 15# braid and a 24" 10# leader. Makes it so much fun!

Re: Its Almost That Time
For Christmas I was given an 8'6" Cabelas fish eagle 2 light action that I plan on finally breaking in. No braid 15# main and 10# leader. Those little guys put up a great fight on light gear and figure to see what this little fish eagle can handle. Is it wrong to be this eager for the fun to began?
Re: Its Almost That Time
I run light line and light rods for them. The 4-8 TFO 9'6" with 8 lbs line. For jigging, I use 10 lbs braid with a length of 8 lbs fluoro for a shock leader blood knotted on the end. You can throw a 1/4 oz jig a mile with that setup.
Re: Its Almost That Time
That rod would be a ton of fun for pinks nate. I've got an 8'6" fenwick ML that i run 8lb nanofil normally with a 3ft 8lb maxima leader that i'll be using most of the time.
Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga, except i still get to kill something.

now that would be a blast. Also would tend to piss a lot of folks off if in a crowd...How many times would you here this... "control your fish!" hahaha. You must conform and be like all others and yard em in as to not take away from their fishing time.
That is of course if you are fishing in the crowds. Myself, not so much this year.
I also have a 11'6" 6-10 I might string up with some light line. Current float rod set up.

Re: Its Almost That Time
I love a 3ft light trout rod, awesome fight. Also use 30lb line so I can get my gear off logs, I call the hole I fish the lumber yard. Humpies are not worth wasting gear on.

Re: Its Almost That Time
10'6" ML Okuma Float rod
Pflueger President spinning reel
8-10# braid
1/4 oz jig tied right to the mainline
There is no need for leader.
I can wing that lil jig as far as the buzz bombers.

They hit on the drop.

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

Thats the other pole I'm going to use. I really cant wait to troll cut plugs for coho on it though. Thats going to be a blast!gfakkema wrote:Anybody planning on using the white lami koke rods (8' UL 4-8#)? I have been thinking about bustin it out when the pinks show up, just not %100 on it.
Re: Its Almost That Time
Everyone says a small presentation for pinks...but how small? Like a 2" grub on a jig head small? I've got a bunch of pink worms that I didn't use up on the OP last winter but some of those are 6-8" long. I don't mind buying new tackle to catch fish, but I'd rather use what I have(as long as its effective)for a fish thats so easy to catch.

Re: Its Almost That Time
The jigs I use are about 1.5" long. I've found the longer ones got more short strikes. Just cut em into 1.5" lengths and put em on a bare jig and give it a whirl.Cozmo4196 wrote:Everyone says a small presentation for pinks...but how small? Like a 2" grub on a jig head small? Re: Its Almost That Time
i run 15 lb test and tie either a 1/4 or 3//8 jig depending on where on the river im fishing. i have more sucess with the bigger b2 type squids in i think there either 3 or 4 in. or a dick nite on a 4-6 ft leader slooow retrieve. bout to go throw some buzzbombs outta edmonds tomorrow
Re: Its Almost That Time
I've got'em of stuff as small as an inch and as big as 4 inches. Usually for me, i fish mostly 2.5 inch lures and change up if i feel i'm not getting enough, water conditions change, or if everybody around me is throwing the exact same thing (a little difference can lead to a huge day).Cozmo4196 wrote:Everyone says a small presentation for pinks...but how small?
