YouTube drives me nuts because when you monetize the videos they require proof you have the rights to the music or permission. Even one my own tunes I had to give them a bunch of documentation. The weird thing is they will do this randomly months after the videos are posted.

Very nice, looks like everyone was having fun. Thanks for showing the pics of the boats in the locks. I used to love to go there when I was a kid to watch the boat traffic and I haven't gotten to go for a lot of years. Thanks again.

totally! months after i post videos they will get the country band or some other warning, for the most part i have always used copyrighted music i listen to and like.. I just started monetizing and using mostly my own stuff this fishing season.. hoping i don't have to go through the ringer ever like that..
thanks rosanne! the locks are fun this time of yr.. been watching a lot of sockeye splashing for a few weeks now.

What kind of documentation do they need? How does that work when you make it yourself?Mike Carey wrote:YouTube drives me nuts because when you monetize the videos they require proof you have the rights to the music or permission. My tune for the Wynoochee video was official rejected by YouTube for monetization. I provided them screen shots of the song structure created in Sony Acid 7.0, I showed them the Sony Royalty-free agreement for the samples I used, I showed them the music attribution file showing the date it was created. I certified the guitar playing was my own work. They told me it was insufficient, in other words they think that somewhere out there this piece of music is copyrighted so they won't allow the video to be monetized. The money is no big deal, it's only a couple bucks. But being told something you created isn't yours - that is irritating to say the least. And there is no way I can contact or talk to a person about it. YouTube and Google totally insulate themselves from people, it's next to impossible to communicate with anyone about it.
I'll probably post on their user forums when I get a chance and join the many other independent music artists that have this happen to them.

I got a song blocked a couple years ago.. I contested it with the argument that I wasn't selling anything and that it was totally unfair to block my video.. I think it took almost 2 months and they finally unblocked it.
I didn't know you played music as well, Mike... dig it!!!
