Puyallup and Skokomish 2013 regs

I sent an email to find out whats going on with the negotiations.
Heres what I got back.

Thank you for your e-mail correspondence to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Fish Program. The following responses, for both the Puyallup & Skokomish rivers, have been provided to you from Pat Pattillo, the WDFW Statewide Salmon Policy Coordinator:
Hello Chiem,

As you may be aware, the Puyallup Tribe and WDFW were unable to resolve differences in view about the Puyallup River sport fishery for 2013. We have been meeting regularly to define the sport fishery and provide the public with timely notice prior to opening. We expect fishing to open in August and so we hope to announce the season in mid-July. Please accept our apology for the delay in resolving this issue. Any announcement will be available on our website (http://www.wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

As far as the Skokomish River, I am sorry to report that we have not yet reached a decision about the 2013 sport salmon season on the Skokomish River. We have been negotiating a number of difficult issues about both the tribal net fishing season and the sport fishing season, and we need to resolve the two fisheries by agreement with the Skokomish Tribe. We recognize that fisheries normally begin during the first week of August, so we are meeting frequently. We hope to announce a decision on this river in mid-July as well.

That's a form letter that they've been sending out since the regs came out in June. If there is no sport fishery on these rivers, especially the Skokomish, then there should be absolutely no tribal netting. If the tribe gets to net it, we should be able to fish it. If we don't get a season soon, we need to organize some sort of "Occupy Puyallup" event. I'm getting really tired of the tribes and their nonsense. Give them the mouth of the river from i-5 down on the Puyallup to gill net. It works great on the Duwamish!

The Skok is another one that is ridiculous. I bet they want the river 5 days a week with only sporties on the weekends. This is really starting to get on my nerves.

Occupy puyallup sounds like a great idea. but, why not just put the word out that we're gonna fish it when the season starts no matter what. Tens of thousands of people breaking the law, with not enough enforcement sounds like a win to me. And of course, we still follow the golden rule of any angler. pack in pack out. releasing snagged fish. limit of 4 adult pinks just as the regs from 2011.
And we should also boycott anything that has to do with the puyallup tribe. Like there casino

And we should call it Occupy Puyallup. Put the word out. We'll follow the 2011 regs for pinks, plan it for opening day and fill Dike Road up with so many rigs that enforcement can't do anything about it.

I already boycott casinos, tribal smoke shops and gas stations. I haven't bought fireworks for three years now, so I guess I'm torn on that front. I think that the cool stuff should be legal just like pot is.

Or cut down a few trees to block the river. as long as the trees float and the fish and get through underneath. That'll keep there boats from coming up, for a bit

I can tell you that the tribes have bought every gubernatorial election in recent memory. They hold a lot of sway in Olympia. Over half my family is quinault or snoqualmie and I don't spend a dime in their casinos.

I think if they don't open the puy for us sporties then they are not allowed to net either as for the skok the rules just keep coming I love that fishery, been fishing it since I was 5 yrs old and I have been consistently catch fish out of there not to mention it is only 45minutes away but with last years delayed opening and only being able to fish it for 13 days total above the hwy it is really making me angry. if there are conflicts with netting that means they are netting way to much because I have fished out there during the week and there are hardly anyone out there where I fish, only a few guys at the main holes and that is it.

Bails of hay are best dumped from the bridge (not that I would know of such things). The drift boat is not what I would call a good getaway platform. After all, dumping bails is federal offence. But as I believe any statute has long passed, might I suggest 55gal drums filled to almost the top, so they just float at the surface (again it's just a wild guess on the effectiveness ).

Bales of hay work somewhat well but you need to wrap them in barbed wire . Hay bales float right below the surface . The problem is our Govt will buy them new nets. Got to love Wa state. LOL The WDFW has better worries like their pensions and retirement plans. Hahaha. They need to look at Oregon and Brittish Columbia. Maybe learn something about fishing.

But on a side note, Two years ago someone went and dumped dead cows in the river above tow of the tribes nets in areas they werent suppose to have them. that had to have been messy

I'm still a big fan of occupy the puke. It should happen. I also like the idea of a sharknado. I know what we should do! We could get a fleet of boats together and got out on the sound and catch a couple boatloads of dog fish, throw them off the bridge and fill the nets with 'em! Even as they're in the net, they'd eat any salmon that are still in the net!



In no way to I condone this action! It wasn't me. You know Homeland Security has a tech guy monitoring this website every day for terrorist activity.
