Lake Pend Oreille is fishing well now.

Here's the curent standings for the Thanksgiving Derby...Ends November 25




Mackinaw
1st Place – Timonthy Jones – 18 lbs 2 oz – 37”
2nd Place – John Jay - 14 lbs 9 oz - 36"
3rd Place – Randy Meckes - 13 lbs 5 oz - 34.5"
4th Place - Joe Gross – 12 lb 11oz – 33.5”
5th Place - Dale Greene - 12 bs 6 oz - 32.5"


Rainbow
1st Place – Kurt Artner – 13 lbs 12 oz – 32”
2nd Place - Roy Stokes – 12 lbs 15 oz – 31”
3rd Place – Bill Freidman – 12 lbs 0 oz – 29.75"
4th Place – Roy Stokes – 11 lbs 10 oz – 28.5”
5th Place – Dave Ivy - 11 lbs 4 oz - 29.5"


Youth Category A (age 13 and younger)
1st Place – Coel Tinkiss – 12 lbs 12 oz Mackinaw – 34.5”
2nd Place – Blake Womble – 12 bs 10 oz - Mackinaw 33.5"

Those crazy Idahoans......always have to one up the Washington guys' rainbows by 20 inches.

Lake Pend Oreille does not freeze, due to its size the upwelling water keeps the ice off. All the small ponds are frozen up and the smaller trout lakes are starting to ice over. It has not been above 32 in 10 days

Just read that they are paying you to catch 'bows and macks from Pond Oreille.

"Every lake trout of any size and rainbow trout more than 12 inches long harvested from Lake Pend Oreille until March 31, 2008, pays $15.00!"

i wish i was fishing at pend orielle one of those days i caught 10+ browns over 14 inches (only kept 5)
