I agree about Shimano having good customer service. I had a defective reel repaired with no problems. I also called to ordered a nut that I cross threaded and they sent two for free.

As i mentioned before i may get another one as ive seem to lost my PTi which as pissed me off no end. But i will wait no doubt they will go on sale at some point. It is a very light reel and you do get a neat little bag and an extra spool.
Tomorrow am taking the Ci4 out to get some use i am really looking forward to giving it some welly.

So far I haven't bought a new kokanee rod this year. :-({|= not that I haven't wanted to. But I have bought new Pflueger reels at the tent sale.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I bought the Patriarch and I am happy with the way it performs. It's as smooth as it gets.

With the higher price points of their better reels, I doubt that they will be in a plastic clam shell packaging at Walmart.

Well there magnesium and painted rather than anodized, so they scratch up very easy. There president reel I think is an excellent choice for 60bucks.

+1 on the magnesium Supremes. had mines since 2009 and its still as smooth as butter. Its just not pretty looking from the scratches. The President XT on the other hand, barely has any scratches. Love them both.

they all are the next Walmart special. They are all made in china at the "reel factory"...paid $120 for a new baitcaster last fall and have had nothing but problems. All reels have plastic parts in them no matter what you pay for them.

I got the Pflueger "Purist" Its a mid price range reel. Mid for me that is. Everytime I go to OE its brutal but I love it there.OE has been around here a long time. I remember them up on Eastlake Ave back in the 70's. They had the 10 buck Fenwick sale. They used to be for Fishing and Hunting news customers only.

What about Penn? I have used them for years, and while it seems you pay about as much as the other reels in the "quality" price range, I have never had any trouble with them at all. I have broken 4 other reels from Shimano to Eagle Claw and others. My buddies have never had troubles with them either, but this is my first year for salmon. Before I have always been surf fishing, and then with my old job I was able to bring them while I traveled and fished all over the pacific. But I always take care of my gear.
